KUST Nursing Department
The KUST Nursing Department expresses deep concern over the ongoing issues faced by our nursing students and acknowledges the validity of their grievances raised during yesterday's press conference at the Kohat Press Club.
For the past three years, our students have been deprived of the very facilities and academic support essential for professional nursing education — including permanent faculty, proper infrastructure, and a recognized departmental structure. Despite continuous appeals, official letters, and meetings with the administration and relevant authorities, the legitimate concerns of our students remain unaddressed.
We stand in complete solidarity with our nursing students and firmly believe that their demands are not only justified but long overdue. Their pursuit is not political — it is a demand for academic justice, transparency, and recognition of their right to quality education.
We strongly urge the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Zafar Ilyas, and the university administration to take immediate and concrete steps to resolve the following key issues:
1. Ensure prompt registration of the Nursing Program with the Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC).
2. Announce and initiate a paid internship policy.
3. Appoint qualified, permanent faculty members.
4. Allocate and develop a dedicated building for the Nursing Department, ensuring stability, discipline, and academic excellence.
The Nursing Department believes that the reputation of KUST and the future of hundreds of nursing students depend on swift and transparent action. We hope the administration will act responsibly and uphold the values of fairness, education, and institutional integrity.
