Youth Mental Health Awareness Session Held Successfully

The Youth Mental Health GEMPAK Initiative, organized in collaboration with the Department of Psychology and the Institute of Omics and Health Research (IOHR), was successfully conducted at Kohat University.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ayub, Professorial Research Fellow at University College London (UCL), UK, joined the session online from London and delivered an insightful talk. He emphasized the importance of youth mental health, practical wellbeing strategies, and the significance of early help-seeking among young individuals.

Vice Chancellor professor Dr Syed Zafar ilyas appreciated the efforts of Dr. Muddasir Hussain Chairman Department of psychology for organizing this interactive and highly impactful activity, acknowledging his role in promoting meaningful student engagement.

Students actively participated in the session, making the interactive Q&A segment both engaging and informative. The organizers thanked all participants and expressed hope that such initiatives will continue to foster positive mental health awareness among the youth.

جامعہ کوہاٹ اور ڈسٹرکٹ جیل کوہاٹ کے درمیان مفاہمتی یادداشت پر دستخط — سائیکالوجی کے شعبے کے لیے عملی تربیت اور تحقیق کے نئے راستے ہموار

جامعہ کوہاٹ اور ڈسٹرکٹ جیل کوہاٹ کے درمیان آج ایک اہم مفاہمتی یادداشت پر دستخط کیے گئے، جس کے تحت شعبۂ نفسیات کے اساتذہ اور طلبہ کو جیل میں تحقیق، فیلڈ ورک، نفسیاتی معائنہ، بحالی کے پروگراموں اور عملی تربیت کی باقاعدہ اجازت مل گئی ہے۔ یہ شراکت نہ صرف تعلیمی معیار کو مضبوط کرے گی بلکہ کمیونٹی انگیجمنٹ کے فروغ میں بھی اہم کردار ادا کرے گی۔ مفاہمتی یادداشت پر باقاعدہ دستخط وائس چانسلر جامعہ کوہاٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سید ظفر الیاس اور ڈسٹرکٹ جیل کوہاٹ کے سپرنٹنڈنٹ معتصم باللہ نے کئے۔

شعبہ سائیکالوجی کے چیرمین ڈاکٹر مدثر حسین کے مطابق، آنے والے دنوں میں جیل کے تعینات ماہرِ نفسیات کے ساتھ ایک تفصیلی ملاقات کا انعقاد کیا جائے گا، جس میں باہمی دلچسپی کے موضوعات اور طلبہ کے لیے منظم سیکھنے اور پیشہ ورانہ سرگرمیوں کا لائحہ عمل ترتیب دیا جائے گا۔ اس موقع پر پرو وائس چانسلر جامعہ کوہاٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نصیرالدین، فوکل پرسن یوتھ ڈویلپمنٹ سنٹر ڈاکٹر آصف علی، انچارج شعبہ سائیکالوجی ڈاکٹر مدثر حسین، ڈین فیکلٹی اف سوشل سائنسز ڈاکٹر فرید اللہ خان، ڈین فیکلٹی اف کیمیکل اینڈ فارماسیوٹیکل سائنسز ڈاکٹر اعجاز احمد بھی موجود تھے۔

یاد رہے کہ یہ اقدام کلینیکل، کونسلنگ اور فورنزک سائیکالوجی کے طلبہ کے لیے عملی میدان میں بہترین مواقع پیدا کرے گا اور ان کی پیشہ ورانہ مہارتوں میں نمایاں اضافہ کرے گا۔

The senior students of the Department of Psychology took a wonderful initiative to warmly welcome the new students of BS First Semester and Advanced Diploma in Clinical Psychology (ADCP) into the Department of Psychology family. 💐

The event began with a White Coat Ceremony, a proud and symbolic moment emphasizing the value of education, professionalism, and co-curricular engagement in a student’s academic journey.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to our respected Chairperson, Dr. Mudassir Hussain, for gracing the event with his presence and encouraging the students with his motivating words.
