The Department of International Relations, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science at Government Graduate College for Women, Gulberg, Lahore, organized a Quiz Competition under the activities of the Prime Minister’s National Committee for the 150th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Students from different departments participated enthusiastically. The competition comprised written and oral rounds, assessing students’ knowledge of Quaid-e-Azam’s life, political struggle, leadership, and contributions to Pakistan. The activity promoted historical awareness, patriotism, and students’ understanding of the Founder of Pakistan’s legacy.

Today, the 5th Athletics Events organized by the Higher Education Department (HED) for the session 2026-2027 were held. A total of 270 female students participated.

The students of Government Graduate College for Women Group showed excellent performance:

Our talented student *Meerab Asad (2nd Year)* secured 1st position in Javelin Throw and has qualified for the Division Level.

Report on Seminar: Contemporary Research Directions, Innovation & Academic Opportunities

The Department of Sciences & Humanities, FAST–NUCES, Lahore, in collaboration with the Department of English, Government College for Women Gulberg, Lahore, organised a seminar titled “Contemporary Research Directions, Innovation & Academic Opportunities” on Friday, 16 October 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the college Conference Room. The seminar was held under the theme “Advancing Language Research Through Technology and Global Collaboration.”

The seminar focused on emerging trends in language research, highlighting Corpus and Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Digital Humanities and Language Technology, Phonetics and Speech Analysis, and International Research Collaborations. It aimed to familiarise students with innovative research methodologies, technological advancements in linguistics, and emerging academic opportunities.

The speakers included Dr. Sara Khan, Incharge and Assistant Professor; Dr. Iram Amjad, Assistant Professor; and Ms. Nokhaiz Zahra, Lecturer, from the Department of Sciences & Humanities, FAST–NUCES, Lahore. Ms. Mahnoor Chaudhry, also delivered a presentation, adding to the academic discussions.

The seminar was facilitated by Ms. Arooj Fatima, Ms. Sufia Humayun, and Ms. Basila Hasnain. Students from BS English Semesters 1, 5, and 7 attended the event and gained valuable insights into contemporary research practices and the role of technology and collaboration in language studies.

At the conclusion, the worthy Madam Principal presented certificates to the speakers, in recognition of their contributions. The seminar strengthened academic collaboration between the two institutions and encouraged students to explore innovative approaches to research and future academic opportunities.

Report on Orientation Session for BS International Relations Students
On 15-10-26, The Department of International Relations, Government Graduate College for Women, Gulberg, Lahore organized an Orientation Session for the new students of BS International Relations to warmly welcome them into the college.The program commenced with Tilawat-e-Quran Pak and Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH). The event was graced by Respected Prinicpal Dr.Nighat Naheed zafar, Respected Vice Principal Dr. Shagufta Gulraiz, Redpected Controller of examination Madam Rabab, the faculty of International Relations Department and the students of senior session.Ms. Hina Nasir Lecturer IR department and Ms. Fizza Btool ,a student of senior semester, moderated the session. The students were briefed about college discipline, rules and regulation, and how BS degree program works.
Madam Rubab, Controller of BS Examination, guided the students about the semester system, GPA, and examination policy. Vice Principal Dr. Shagufta Gulraiz, Incharge BS Admissions, welcomed the students and appreciated their choice of discipline.
In her address, Principal Prof. Dr. Nighat Naheed Zafar welcomed the new batch and highlighted the significance, scope, and relevance of international relations in the contemporary global order. Department of International Relations presented bouqet to Madam Principal as a token of thanks for her visionary leadership, support, and pioneering role in launching BS IR and the Peace & Harmony Club. The ceremony ended with the cake cutting ceremony and distribution of chocolates and gifts among newcomers as a token of welcome.

Report on “Kahani Suno” Session at Writer’s Corner

A thought-provoking session of “Kahani Suno,” organised under the umbrella of Writer’s Corner, was held in the Main Library of Government Graduate College for Women, Gulberg, Lahore. The session featured Associate Professor Dr. Saman Imtiaz as the guest speaker, who engaged the audience in a reflective exploration of the story narrated in Surah Al-Kahf.

Dr. Saman Imtiaz eloquently narrated the story, highlighting its central themes, moral lessons, and spiritual significance. Through her insightful commentary, she drew meaningful connections between the events and teachings of the story and the challenges of contemporary life. She emphasised the enduring relevance of faith, patience, wisdom, humility, and trust in Allah, encouraging the audience to reflect on how these values can guide individuals in navigating the complexities of the modern world.

The session provided an enriching opportunity for students and faculty members to engage with religious narratives beyond their literal meanings and explore their ethical and philosophical dimensions. By connecting the wisdom of the Quran with present-day realities, Dr. Saman Imtiaz made the narrative both accessible and relevant to the audience.

The session concluded with a renewed appreciation of the timeless wisdom of Quranic storytelling and its capacity to inspire reflection, moral growth, and meaningful engagement with contemporary issues. The activity reflected Writer’s Corner’s commitment to fostering a culture of storytelling, critical thinking, and intellectual dialogue among students.
