Respected Deans / HODs,

In the wake of the current situation and as per the instructions received from the Government, it is hereby notified for the information of all faculty, students, and staff that the University of the Punjab will remain closed from Tuesday, March 10, 2026, to Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

During this period of closure, the following measures will be in effect:

1. Online Classes: All academic activities will be shifted to online mode. Deans and HODs are requested to look after the online classes timetable and continue the post-mid-term exam online academic activities. Faculty members are requested to conduct their classes via digital platforms from March 10 to March 19, 2026.
2. Postponement of Departmental Exams: All examinations scheduled by academic departments during the above-mentioned dates are hereby postponed. These examinations will be rescheduled and will now be held after Tuesday, March 31, 2026, following the Eid and spring break instead of 30th March 2026.
3. Essential Services Staff: Staff members associated with essential services, including but not limited to gardening, sanitation, and the Health Centre, will work as per the instructions of their respective Head of Department on a need-based arrangement.
4. Non-Teaching Staff (Work from Home): All non-teaching staff will continue to work from home as per the instructions of their respective Head of Department. They will remain on call and available as per requirements during the closure period.
5. Controller of Examinations: Examinations scheduled under the purview of the Office of the Controller of Examinations will be governed by separate instructions and schedules issued directly by that office.

🎉 16 February marked the official launch of the CGIS Sports Fest 2026 — and what a day it was! Our fields and courts came alive with energy, enthusiasm, and nonstop action as students from all batches competed with full spirit and awesome sportsmanship.
⚽🏏🏐 From Cricket, Football, Volleyball, and Badminton to intense showdowns in Arm Wrestling, UNO, Ludo, FIFA, and Tekken, the variety of events brought out the best competitive vibes in everyone! Every match, round, and game showcased courage, teamwork, and pure CGIS passion.

GIS Day, celebrated at the Centre for Geographical Information System, University of the Punjab 19th November 2025, was a huge success, filled with energy, creativity, and appreciation for our students’ outstanding work.

Section 1 – Competitions
We kicked off the day with three exciting competitions: Mapping Competition, Poster Presentation, and Web GIS Projects. Our students showcased amazing skills, and the guests were highly impressed with the quality and innovation in every project. Performance of students were elvaluated by Dr. Muhammad Hamid Chaudary, Dr. Sawaid Abbas and Sir Umaid Babar ( guest judge from Department of Computer Science, PU). All the groups were also visited by the guests and got detailed briefing from the students.

Section 2 – Main Event
The second part of the event featured inspiring speaker presentations, a memorable GIS Day cake-cutting ceremony, and certificate & shield distribution to our speakers, winners, and runners-up. Event was summed up at the Key Note by Incharge CGIS Dr. Muhammad Hamid Chaudary.

We are extremely proud of our students, grateful to our guests, and thankful to everyone who helped make this event a memorable success.
CGIS continues to shine!
