‎On Friday, March 6, 2026, Dr. Shazia Humayun, Assistant Professor, School of Education and Head SE-EDx was invited on Samaa TV to discuss the pressing issue of out-of-school children aged 5–16 in Pakistan and the steps needed to address it.
‎
‎She highlighted the importance of stronger public sector ownership and greater accountability from decision-makers, referencing Article 25-A which places the responsibility of provision of education on the state. She also stressed the need to ensure effective implementation of existing education models and the need to provide the workforce in the education sector with a proper plan to make a difference.
‎
‎Dr. Shazia emphasized that teacher training must focus on improving school environments and working within structured frameworks that enhance student engagement in the classroom. She also called for greater attention to girls’ education and noted that teachers and school leaders are eager to drive change but need the right inspiration, support, and systems to do so.
‎
‎Finally, she highlighted the importance of pilot testing community-based learning reiterating that meaningful progress requires strong ownership and commitment from all public sector stakeholders.

Dr. Shazia Humayun, Asst. Professor, Head SE-EDx Training, School of Education BNU, led a study tour for MPhil ELM students on January 31, 2026, to The Learning Hub College. During the visit, the students were briefed on the organizational and operational structure of the school network.

Students participated in interactive discussions with Mr. Allauddin Jameel and Ms. Madiha Rizwan Sulehri, gaining insights into educational leadership and management. The tour also included visits to multiple campuses of Jadeed Dastgir Schools, including the Jinnah Road Campus, D.C. Road Campus, and the Cambridge Campus.

The study tour successfully linked theory with practice by providing students exposure to teacher professional development model and educational management practices.

Students of MPhil. ELM from BNU's School of Education visited the Razia Hassan School of Architecture (RHSA) to explore the two-day exhibition "In-Section" (Feb 19–20, 2026). Guided by Ms. Sara Assad, Assistant Professor at RHSA, students gained insight into spatial thinking, architectural formation, and the deeper meanings behind design beyond surface-level structures. The visit was an enriching interdisciplinary learning experience.

We are proud to share that Dr. Shazia Humayun, Assistant Professor & Head SE-EDX, School of Education, BNU, and Saadia Shahzad from SE published a research article titled “Challenges Faced by Teachers to Enhance Listening Skills in English in High and Low Income Schools in Lahore” in the HEC-recognized Journal of Social Science Review Archives (Vol. 3, No. 4).

This interpretivist qualitative study explores the key challenges teachers encounter in developing English listening skills across diverse school contexts, offering valuable insights for improved teaching practices and curriculum development.
