That clash of ideas gave birth to what we now call debate: not noise, not empty talk, but the courage to question, to reason, and to move hearts. This is the spirit our debating society carries forward, a legacy where every speech is more than words, it is ethos (the credibility you earn), pathos (the emotion you awaken), and logos (the reason you defend).
Today, when you stand at our podium, you don’t just speak, you step into that heroic tradition. You learn how to argue not to dominate, but to illuminate; how to tell stories that stir; how to ask questions that unsettle; how to lead with words when silence is the easy option.
