The Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP) successfully conducted the 2nd Chapter of its 14th Convocation in Lahore, celebrating the remarkable achievements of its graduates in a prestigious ceremony. The event commenced with an academic procession led by Prof. Dr. Ather Azim Khan, Registrar of VUP, setting the tone for a day filled with pride and achievement.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Naveed A. Malik, the founding Rector of VUP, as the Chief Guest, along with Mr. Tajdar Alam, Former MD VUTV/Rector VUP, Mr. Naeem Tariq, Former Director Finance/Rector VUP, Dr. Munawar Sultana Mirza, and several other distinguished personalities. Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti (S.I, T.I), Rector VUP, warmly welcomed all guests, students, and their parents to the convocation ceremony, alongside faculty members and university officials.
Addressing the graduates, Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, Rector VUP, highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Virtual University over the years. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the students and their families, encouraging them to pursue excellence and success in their future endeavors.
A total of 4,876 degrees were awarded across various disciplines, recognizing the dedication and academic excellence of VUP graduates. The Faculty of Arts conferred 532 degrees, while the Faculty of Computer Science & IT had the highest number of graduates, with 1,851 degrees awarded. The Faculty of Education honored 676 graduates, followed by the Faculty of Management with 999 graduates, and the Faculty of Science & Technology with 818 degrees awarded. These degrees were conferred by Dr. Faisal Tehseen Shah, Controller of Examinations, along with the Deans and Heads of Departments from all five faculties.
In recognition of outstanding academic performance, 21 Gold Medals and 33 Merit Certificates were awarded to distinction holders at the Lahore convocation, as part of the 79 Gold Medals and 152 Merit Certificates being distributed across the 14th Convocation.
Prof. Dr. Naveed A. Malik, in his address, shared insights on the universityโs journey and its mission to provide quality online education, making learning accessible to students even in remote areas. He commended Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti for his dedication to ensuring that the Virtual University of Pakistan remains committed to its mission of providing high-quality, accessible education, empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their careers.
