A Proud Moment for GCU

Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool, Professor of Psychology at GCU Lahore, has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of Women University, Multan, for a four-year term.

An eminent psychologist, she holds a Ph.D. from Punjab University and completed her postdoctoral studies at the University of Sussex, UK.

Throughout her distinguished career, she has authored over 100 research publications and supervised 17 Ph.D. alongside more than 160 MPhil and BS scholars. She also currently serves as the Additional Secretary General of the Pakistan Psychological Association.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry congratulated Dr. Batool on this appointment, calling it a testament to her academic excellence and a remarkable milestone for the university.

The 36th Academic Council meeting was held at GCU Lahore, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry. This was the third meeting of the council within the one-year tenure of the Vice Chancellor, with a primary focus on modernizing the curriculum and improving the overall quality of education.

The council reviewed over 30 agenda items during this meeting and made the following key recommendations besides approving new curricula:

🤖 Artificial Intelligence will now be a mandatory course across all degree programs.
🎓 An open merit policy has been recommended for all BS admissions.
📚 Nine new programs will be introduced, including an Associate Degree Program (ADP) in Computer Science, a BFA in Film and Media, and new doctoral programs in Zoology.
💼 Approval of a new Post-Doctoral Research Program for national and international researchers, alongside a first-of-its-kind GCU Summer Internship Program.
📜 Recommendation of a revised Students' Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Regulations for 2026.

All academic and administrative recommendations will now be placed before the University Syndicate for final approval.

Well Done, Ravians!

A debating team from Government College University Lahore participated in the Karwan-e-Khudi 2.0 competition, organized by the Pakistan Debating Society in collaboration with the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

The GCU team won the overall team trophy.

In the open category, Subhan Shahid Bhukhari secured first position in the Urdu humorous category, and Sucheet Ahmed Sandhu was named the second best speaker in the English serious category.

In the U-19 category, Rao Mukaram was declared the best speaker in the Urdu serious category, while Muhammad Ali was named the best speaker in the English serious category.

A passionate storyteller since childhood, Sana’s book explores the complexities of the human experience. Blending personal growth, emotional strength, and faith, her writing serves as a beautiful reminder that healing from past traumas is always possible, no matter how broken life may feel. 📖💫

Beyond her debut book, Sana has already built an impressive literary portfolio. She served as the Editor for "The Scientific Ravi 2025" and has contributed her insightful articles to renowned publications including Khawateen Magazine.
