Department of Architecture UET Lahore The Oldest PCATP Accredited Architectural School in Pakistan. The Department of Architecture has a history of more than half a century.

Established in 1962, it has the distinction of offering the first-degree program of Architecture in the Country. Thus, the Department has been a fundamental contributor towards the founding and establishment of the profession of Architecture in Pakistan. By now it has a large body of alumni, and through them, it has the honor and credit of shaping a significant part of the built environment. Over the decades, the Department has developed unmatched expertise in various facets of the profession of Architecture. At present, in terms of qualifications, as well as width and breadth of relevant knowledge base, its faculty far surpasses any other school/department of architecture in the country. The Department, thus has not only maintained its leading role in architectural education, it is set to expand its frontiers even further through its flowering in the form of School of Architecture and Design (SoAAD). The department has well equipped computer lab, alongwith newly established material lab and environment control lab, and well furnished design studios and a library. The spacious internal courtyard acts as a social space for different design, sketching and model making activities and enhances interaction among students. The working environment within the Department is pleasant and intimate.

An experimental design-research workshop grounded in Georges Perec’s concept of the infraordinary; a method of attending to the banal, habitual and overlooked. Through 100 ways of occupying an ordinary café chair, students will move from body → chair → material → room, transforming everyday bodily experience into material and spatial knowledge.

At the Department of Architecture, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, our Thesis Research and Design Strategies Lecture Series brings together architects, educators, researchers, and practitioners to engage graduating students at one of the most defining stages of their architectural education. An architecture thesis is more than a final-year project—it is an opportunity for students to identify questions that matter, develop an independent position, and transform research, context, experimentation, and critical thinking into meaningful architectural propositions. Through diverse perspectives on research methods, computational and rule-based design, civic questions, emerging technologies, and design thinking, this series aims to help students understand that a strong thesis is not simply about designing a building; it is about learning what is worth designing, for whom, why, and how architecture can respond.
