The Department of Chemistry is delighted to share that Dr. Shazma Massey Azeem represented Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) at the United Board Fellows Program 2026–2027 Summer Leadership Institute, held at Singapore Management University (SMU) from July 13–18, 2026. The theme of the institute was “Adapting to Disruption: Forging Resilient and Inclusive Higher Education in Asia,” which provided valuable insights into strategic leadership, innovation, AI in higher education, entrepreneurship, fundraising, and Whole Person Education. The knowledge and skills gained will contribute to curriculum modernization, stronger collaborations, research development, and inclusive academic leadership within the department. We are confident that this enriching experience will further strengthen the Department of Chemistry's contribution to the vision and mission of Forman Christian College (A Chartered University).

ACS–FCCU Outreach Initiative held from June 16–25, 2026

The ACS Student International Chapter-FCCU, under the advisership of Dr. Hina Abid was awarded the International ACS Festival Grant 2026, won by Mr. Ahmed Bilal Khan, from the American Chemical Society (ACS) to implement its outreach initiative, "Breaking the Barrier for the girls of Mountains." The project was designed to promote STEM education by providing hands-on chemistry learning experiences to students in the remote northern regions of Pakistan, with a special focus on encouraging female students to pursue science.
At the STEM School System, Gilgit, more than 50 students enthusiastically participated in practical chemistry activities that introduced them to scientific concepts beyond the classroom. A second outreach session was successfully conducted at Uswa Public High School, Hunza, where another 50+ students experienced hands-on chemistry experiments aimed at inspiring curiosity, creativity, and confidence in STEM subjects. In addition to promoting chemistry education and STEM awareness, the initiative also served as a recreational and educational journey for the student volunteers, providing them with an opportunity to experience the natural beauty, culture, and communities of Pakistan's northern regions while fostering meaningful engagement through scientific outreach. This outreach activity reflects FCCU's mission of academic excellence, leadership, and meaningful community service. The chapter looks forward to expanding similar outreach initiatives across Pakistan, continuing to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
The project was completed under the guidance of the Faculty Advisor, Dr. Hina Abid, and the Chairperson, Dr. Shazma Massey Azeem. The dedicated student leadership team included President Ahmed Bilal Khan, Vice President Muhammad Azam, General Secretary Noor Fatima, Event Coordinator Tahmina Hijab, Treasurer Rija Khalid, Outreach Managers Zeshaour Abbas Kazmi and Zohaib Ameen, Membership Coordinator Shrakat Shoukat, and Media Manager Shakeel Ashiq.
