Even as a child I had no cliche dreams of becoming a doctor, neither did I fantasize moving abroad. I’ve seen many overseas Pakistanis making billions. But I believe that wealth is no use, if u can’t have your parents, your loved ones, by your side. If you are even unable to attend your mother's funeral. My dream, instead, was that that wherever I will go I will make some distinction. I will break stereotypes and norms and make a difference in the world.
Before F.Sc, I was just a debater and a sports girl little bit. I took admission in Ripha University then left it because I couldn’t cram all day and leave all social activities. That would mean murdering my inner self. Then on advice of two great people, Dr. Nasim Ahmed and my uncle Dr. Khalid, I applied in UVAS. How I came in Microbiology is a big story, that proves when Allah Almighty wants you somewhere, you can’t go any another way. I initially applied in DVM and Pharm-D. Later on, when the merit list came, my name popped up in microbiology. I came to know afterwards that I had mistakenly written the wrong priority order. So, I submitted my fee blindly in microbiology and left all to Almighty Allah. But today I would say, it was the best decision ever.
Four years in UVAS, Alhamdulillah, I achieved a lot. I got 2nd position in all Punjab declamation; I have been a part of almost every society except a few ones. I worked as GS BDs and QNS. I was the sports proctor UVAS for 3 years. I played chess five times on national level, Qirat at national level, played Volleyball all Pakistan intervarsity and participated in various other events. I was the hostel proctor for three years. In short, I used to be busy in all social activities with my studies. But these activities never had a bad impact on my CGPA which was always 3.5+. During this, I also got the great opportunity to work in Army centre (CEBG). I worked as a microbiologist in IPH, PACP, Gangaram Hospital, Michael Industry, UDL, and QOL in my undergrad, just to have grip on my degree work.
I worked with many NGO’s, but my biggest aim was to create my own NGO. Then by Allah’s blessings this big dream also came true in the form of “Subh-e-Zeest”. Working for humanity is the best feeling ever. After that my dream was to be my own boss. To run my own lab, where I can create opportunities for others as well. That too, is in progress.
