🎬 TFT Thesis Screening 2026 | Closing Ceremony & Awards

The TFT Thesis Screening 2026 concluded with a memorable closing ceremony after a full day of screenings held across two venues. The event celebrated the creativity, dedication, and hard work of our graduating students.

Prof. Dr. Bushra H. Rahman, Dean, School of Media & Mass Communication, congratulated all graduating students and appreciated their efforts and creative work. Professor Rashid Rana, Dean, School of Visual Arts & Design, also joined the screenings and closing ceremony, where he appreciated the students’ work and acknowledged the efforts of SMC in producing meaningful and impactful creative projects.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of 11 awards in different categories, including Best Director, Best Actor, Best Short film, among others.

Congratulations to all the graduating students on successfully completing this important milestone.

We wish them continued success in their creative journeys. 🎥🏆

Where every journey begins with a story.

The SMC Orientation 2026 brought together our Class of 2030, faculty, HODs, and staff for a day of conversations, introductions, experiences, and new connections.

From our Dean’s welcome and faculty insights to a student sharing her international exchange experience, the session gave our new students a glimpse into the opportunities and experiences that await them at SMC.

The day continued with activities across departments, open mic conversations, immersive media exploration, and creative introductions, giving students the opportunity to express themselves, ask questions, and get to know the people they’ll be learning and creating alongside.

A warm welcome to the newest members of the SMC family. 🎓💙

🎙️ Audio Storytelling: Sound & Substance

What makes a story powerful when all you have is sound?

The School of Media & Mass Communication, BNU hosted an advanced three-hour workshop on Audio Storytelling: Sound & Substance, led by Ali Aneeq Sayyed, Program Host at Express News, and Asim Butt, Senior Correspondent & Producer.

Students explored the complete process of audio storytelling, from finding and developing a story to shaping narratives through voice, sound, ambience, and audio effects. Through hands-on tasks and practical exercises, they experienced how every sound can influence the way a story is understood and felt.

A session that turned listening into storytelling. 🎧

The WWF-Pakistan team, led by Communication Director Rabia Tahir, visited the Immersive Labs at BNU this week to experience one of the final year projects from the BS Immersive Media programme.

Raqs-e-Ravi takes a viewer through four timelines of the River Ravi, from its health in the Mughal era to its polluted present and a possible sustainable future. It was built in virtual reality by Zeeshan Ismail Israr, Ramish Mahmood and Rana Ammar.

The project came out of a simple idea: that immersive media can carry environmental questions in ways a poster or a report cannot. Seeing our students explain their work to a national conservation organisation was a good reminder of why we build the way we do.

Faculty Achievement | Dr. Rabia Noor

The School of Media & Mass Communication (SMC), Beaconhouse National University, proudly acknowledges Dr. Rabia Noor, Head of Journalism & Mass Communication, for participating as a speaker at the national meeting and training event “Rising Together: Strategies for Gender Equality and Diversity in Pakistan’s Unions,” organised with the support of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Pakistan, held in Lahore.

The two-day gathering brought together women journalists, union representatives, and labour rights stakeholders to discuss women’s leadership, gender-sensitive policies, representation, and advocacy within media and labour unions.

Dr. Rabia Noor contributed to the dialogue on gender equality, diversity, women’s leadership, and the role of media in strengthening visibility and advocacy, sharing her expertise as an academic and media professional.

🎬 From Real Life to the Reel: The Craft of Documentary Storytelling

The School of Media & Mass Communication (SMC), Beaconhouse National University, hosted an intensive 6-hour workshop, “Real to Reel: The Craft of Documentary Storytelling,” for students of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication.

Led by Sikander Javed, Assistant Professor & Head of Film & Television at IAC Lahore, the workshop introduced students to the fundamentals of documentary storytelling and the process of transforming real-life stories into compelling visual narratives.

Through hands-on activities, students explored story development, identifying subjects, capturing visuals, and documentary-making techniques. As their final assignment, they created short documentaries within the university premises, putting their learning directly into practice. 🎥

The workshop concluded with Dr. Rabia Noor, Head of Journalism & Mass Communication, SMC, presenting a certificate of appreciation to Sikander Javed and thanking him for sharing his expertise with our students.

A day of learning, creating, and turning real moments into meaningful stories. 🎞️✨
