Faculty Conference Presentation
Naeema Arshad and Arshad Awan presented their research titled "Forts of Potohar: Reconstructing Cultural, Military, and Architectural Landscapes" at the Istanbul: Heritage(s), Cultural Pasts, and Urban Futures conference organised by AMPS. This study examines the historical development, architectural diversity, and cultural significance of selected Potohar forts, focusing on their multilayered heritage shaped by interventions spanning the pre-Islamic, Islamic, Mughal, Sikh, and colonial periods. Using a qualitative, interdisciplinary approach, the research integrates historical analysis and cultural interpretation with architectural and spatial studies. It combines architectural, historical, and cultural perspectives to contribute to regional and global discourse, highlighting critical issues such as conservation, documentation, and participatory heritage management in frontier Pakistan.
