The fair was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Nusrat Shah, and it exhibited 10 well-known Publishing Houses which show-cased nearly 100,000 medical and allied books, as well as books related to other fields eg literature, fiction, Islamic Studies, and Philosophy.
A large number of students, faculty members, and university officers actively participated and purchased books during the event.
On this occasion, Prof Nusrat Shah said โthereโs a need to promote a love for books among our student community. She said unlike, 50 years ago, when we used to read story books, now students are preoccupied with their cell phones and social media. She said just like exercise is required for physical health, reading books is an exercise for mental health and maturity. She said the purpose of this book fair is to inculcate a genuine love for reading books which is also a great way to relieve stress. The
Chief Librarian Mr. Mumtaz Ali Buriro said โWe live in an age of computers and internet. While our digital libraries meet modern educational needs, the experience of reading physical books carries a unique charm that must never fade away. This book fair has been organized to revive and celebrate that timeless connectionโ
The ceremony was attended by Deans, Principals, Directors and a large number of faculty members, officers, and students.
