Larkana: In accordance with the public-oriented vision of the President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Ms. Faryal Talpur, Chairman Dary Town, Sardar Shah Rukh Anwar Khan Siyal—brother of MPA Sardar Suhail Anwar Khan Siyal and an alumnus of the Electrical Engineering Department (formerly QUEST Campus Larkana) took a commendable initiative to promote education.
Under the Dary Town Students Scholarship Program, laptops were distributed among position-holder students from the University of Larkano, Government Girls College Larkana, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Larkana, Government Boys and Girls School Karman Bagh, and other educational institutions.
On this occasion, speakers highlighted that such initiatives not only encourage students but also provide access to modern technology, thereby improving the quality of education. They expressed hope that this scholarship program will continue in the future, enabling more talented students to benefit.
On behalf of the visionary and dynamic Worthy Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh, the Focal Person ORIC, Dr. Syed Abid Ali Shah, appreciated the laptop distribution scheme and termed it a highly commendable and forward-looking initiative. He stated that such efforts not only motivate students but also enhance their digital literacy and technical competencies in line with modern market demands.
Dr. Abid Shah further highlighted the remarkable leadership, academic vision, and tireless efforts of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh, whose strategic guidance and commitment to excellence have significantly contributed to the rapid development of the University. He noted that under his able leadership, the institution has made tremendous progress in academic expansion, quality assurance, and research promotion.
Recalling its history, Dr. Abid Shah stated that the institution began as a four-discipline Engineering College in 2010. Later, in 2016, it was upgraded to QUEST Campus Larkana, and Alhamdulillah, in 2023, it was granted the status of an independent institution as The University of Larkano. Currently, 19 undergraduate and 07 postgraduate programs, recognized by HEC and PEC, are being offered. The University also has more than 40 highly qualified PhD faculty members, many of whom are foreign-qualified.
He further added that the visionary leadership, administrative excellence, and academic foresight of Professor Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh have placed the University on a path of sustainable growth and innovation. InshaAllah, with continued dedication and progressive planning, the day is not far when the University will achieve international recognition and emerge as a leading center of higher education and research in the region.
