As the year 2025 comes to an end, I consider it a responsibility to place on record a brief reflection on the progress and direction of UAF Constituent College Burewala, a constituent campus serving an important educational and developmental role in southern Punjab. Having recently assumed the responsibilities of Principal, my immediate focus has been on establishing an academic environment founded on professionalism, mutual respect, discipline, and peaceful coexistence, thereby enabling students to pursue their studies in a safe and supportive setting. In alignment with the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad's vision and the Higher Education Commission's policy framework, the campus is gradually strengthening the implementation of Outcome-Based Education across its academic programs.
The objective is to ensure that graduates acquire not only subject knowledge but also essential skills, ethical values, and professional conduct. Given the limited exposure and resource constraints faced by many students from the region, special emphasis is being placed on continuous capacity building, character development, and student mentoring to enhance their readiness for national and international academic and professional challenges.
The campus is fully committed to implementing the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, who consistently emphasizes the importance of quality education, student-centered learning, and the recognition of students as the primary stakeholders of the university. Under this guidance, efforts are underway to improve teaching practices, assessment systems, co-curricular engagement, and academic governance, while ensuring compliance with HEC quality assurance standards.
Situated in Burewala, widely recognized as a City of Education, the campus holds strategic importance for uplifting agriculture and improving the socio-economic conditions of the surrounding communities. Through academic programs, applied research, and outreach activities, the campus aims to contribute to food security, sustainable agriculture, and human resource development in the region, aligning with national priorities and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. Looking forward, the campus is actively exploring industry-academia collaboration and international funding opportunities to strengthen its academic and research capacity. Potential areas include collaborative research projects, faculty development initiatives, and student-focused programs supported by international organizations and development partners. These efforts aim to increase the visibility of UAF at national and international levels, while creating sustainable opportunities for institutional growth.
With continued support from the University administration and the Higher Education Commission, I am firmly committed to steadily developing UAF Constituent College Burewala into a dynamic center of learning and knowledge sharing, aligned with the long-term vision of UAF and the evolving educational and societal needs of southern Punjab. This goal will be advanced through strategic planning, academic strengthening, and responsible utilization of available resources for the broader betterment of the region and society.
I would like to extend my appreciation to the University leadership, faculty members, staff, and students for their cooperation and commitment. The campus remains committed to serving the objectives of UAF and HEC with integrity, accountability, and a clear focus on delivering quality education and promoting national development.
Prof. Dr. Zain ul Abdin
