REPORT ON THALASSEMIA AWARENESS PROGRAM

A Thalassemia Awareness Program was organized at Government Degree College Mehrabpur on 29 September 2026 at the Latif Auditorium Hall. The program was aimed at creating awareness among students and faculty members about thalassemia, its causes, symptoms, prevention, treatment, and the challenges faced by patients living with this condition.
The awareness session was conducted by Dr. Arsal Arbab Mangi, who delivered an informative and comprehensive lecture on thalassemia. He explained the disease in simple and understandable terms and highlighted the importance of awareness, early diagnosis, regular medical care, blood transfusion where required, and preventive measures.
A notable part of the program was the presence of Abdul Rehman, a Class XI student and a thalassemia patient. During the session, Dr. Arsal interacted with Abdul Rehman and discussed his experience as a patient. This interaction provided the audience with a practical understanding of the challenges faced by individuals living with thalassemia and encouraged empathy and support for patients.
All faculty members and students attended the awareness program. Dr. Arsal addressed the complete audience and answered questions related to thalassemia. He also emphasized the importance of spreading awareness among families and communities so that people can understand the disease and take appropriate preventive measures.
The program was informative and meaningful for the college community. It successfully enhanced awareness about thalassemia and encouraged students and faculty members to contribute to creating a more informed and supportive society.
