We are proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Nisar Ali, Computer Science Class of 2018, on successfully completing his PhD at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, under the supervision of Dr. Abdul Bais. His research in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Precision Agriculture, and Remote Sensing, conducted in collaboration with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, has produced 8 peer-reviewed publications and advanced AI-driven UAV phenotyping for wheat breeding.
He has received multiple prestigious graduate scholarships and research awards, including the Saskatchewan Innovation Opportunity Scholarship International and University of Regina Graduate Scholarships.

The Centre for AI & Big Data (CAID), Namal University, successfully concluded its Summer School on “Modeling and Simulation on the Namal Supercomputing Facility.”

Participants, including students and faculty from NED University, Hamdard University, NUST, PAF-IAST, PIEAS, University of Layyah, UETs, and GIKI, joined us for this two-day learning experience.

The Summer School brought together students, researchers, and professionals for hands-on learning, technical exploration, and meaningful engagement in supercomputing, modeling, simulation, and scientific computing.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all participating institutions, partner organizations, speakers, and participants for their valuable contributions in making this initiative a success.

A great beginning to many more impactful learning initiatives ahead!

Summer School on RISC-V Hardware–Software Co-Design | 5–6 September 2026

The Centre for AI & Big Data (CAID), Namal University, is organizing a two-day Summer School on RISC-V Hardware–Software Co-Design at Namal University, Mianwali.

The program brings together national and international experts from Namal University, Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), and 10xEngineers for an intensive exploration of open computing architectures and AI acceleration.

Participants will explore the complete hardware–software stack, including RISC-V ISA, vector accelerators, SoC integration, firmware, Linux bring-up, GCC/LLVM toolchains, and MLIR-based AI compilation, along with hands-on practical sessions.

Namal University’s Centre for AI & Big Data (CAID), following its vision of addressing local challenges through indigenous technology solutions, has developed MoLE, an AI-powered dermoscopic visual question-answering system to support the analysis of skin lesions and potential skin cancer cases.

The AI model was designed, trained, and deployed on Namal’s local supercomputing facility, demonstrating how advanced medical AI solutions can be developed using indigenous computing infrastructure and research expertise.

This work has been published in IEEE Access, highlighting Namal’s continued efforts to translate AI and supercomputing research into solutions for real-world healthcare challenges.
