The University of Agriculture Swat gets approve its Budget of Rs 501 million for FY 2026-27
PESHAWAR, August 19, 2026, the Senate of the University of Agriculture Swat, in its 5th meeting approved budget exceeding Rs 501 million for the financial year 2026–27. The meeting was conducted in the committee room of the Agriculture Department, Civil Secretariat, Peshawar. The prestigious session was chaired by the Hon’ble Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Agriculture and Pro-Chancellor, The University of Agriculture Swat, Mian Muhammad Umar Kakakhel.
The session was attended by Mr. Sultan-e-Rome Khan member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), Prof. Dr. Dawood Jan Vice Chancellor, the University of Agriculture Swat, Dr. Muhammad Bakhtiar Khan Secretary Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi (DG Finance, HEC), Justice ( R ) Muhammad Iqbal Khan (attended on line), Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Swati (Advisor, Prime University, Peshawar), Prof. Dr. Rashid Ahmad Khan (University of Malakand), Dr. Naila Chand (Department of Poultry Science ,The University of Agriculture Peshawar), Mr. Ehsanullah Khan ( SRSP, Swat), Mr. Bacha Said (Chief Executive, Islamabad Consulting Pvt. After detailed deliberations, the Senate approved the Budget Estimates of over Rs 501 million for FY 2026–27 along-with Revised Budget for FY 2025–26 as well as actual for FY 2024-25. The forum also considered and approved the third-party audit report and reviewed the Annual Report for 2024–25 highlighting academic and research accomplishments.
Mian Muhammad Umar Kakakhel emphasized that the University of Agriculture Swat plays an indispensable role in promoting mountain agriculture. He noted that the mountainous terrains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hold massive potential that can be unlocked using modern scientific farming, advanced research, and tailored technologies. He urged the institution to prioritize local agricultural needs, providing mountain farmers with climate-resilient crops, improved seed varieties, and modern techniques to maximize regional productivity and enhance local incomes.
During the briefings, the Advisor highly appreciated the university's implementation of five distinct endowment funds and lauded the unique scholarship model and inclusive scholarship initiatives aimed at supporting student growth.
Following the comprehensive presentation, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Dawood Jan extended his gratitude to the Advisor, the Secretary of Agriculture, and all Senate participants for their continued guidance.
To commemorate the successful session, honorary shields were presented to the Advisor and all attending Senate members. The day’s proceedings concluded with a formal vote of thanks and a collective group photograph.

پشاور، 19 اگست 2026ء: یونیورسٹی آف ایگریکلچر سوات کی سینیٹ کے پانچویں اجلاس میں مالی سال 2026-27ء کے لیے 501 ملین روپے سے زائد کے بجٹ کی منظوری دے دی گئی۔ اجلاس محکمہ زراعت، سول سیکرٹریٹ پشاور کے کمیٹی روم میں منعقد ہوا، جس کی صدارت وزیراعلیٰ خیبر پختونخوا کے مشیر برائے زراعت و پرو چانسلر یونیورسٹی آف ایگریکلچر سوات میاں محمد عمر کاکاخیل نے کی۔

تفصیلی غور و خوض کے بعد سینیٹ نے مالی سال 2026-27ء کے 501 ملین روپے سے زائد کے بجٹ تخمینوں، مالی سال 2025-26ء کے نظرثانی شدہ بجٹ اور مالی سال 2024-25ء کے حقیقی اخراجات کی منظوری دی۔ اجلاس میں تھرڈ پارٹی آڈٹ رپورٹ کی بھی منظوری دی گئی جبکہ سالانہ رپورٹ برائے 2024-25ء کا جائزہ لیتے ہوئے یونیورسٹی کی تعلیمی و تحقیقی کامیابیوں کو سراہا گیا۔

میاں محمد عمر کاکاخیل نے کہا کہ یونیورسٹی آف ایگریکلچر سوات پہاڑی زراعت کے فروغ میں اہم کردار ادا کر رہی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ خیبر پختونخوا کے پہاڑی علاقوں میں جدید سائنسی زراعت، جدید تحقیق اور مقامی ضروریات سے ہم آہنگ ٹیکنالوجی کے ذریعے زرعی پیداوار اور کاشتکاروں کی آمدنی میں خاطر خواہ اضافہ کیا جا سکتا ہے۔

انہوں نے یونیورسٹی پر زور دیا کہ مقامی زرعی ضروریات کو ترجیح دیتے ہوئے پہاڑی علاقوں کے کاشتکاروں کے لیے موسمیاتی تبدیلی سے ہم آہنگ فصلوں، بہتر بیجوں کی اقسام اور جدید زرعی تکنیکوں پر تحقیق اور عملی اقدامات کو مزید فروغ دیا جائے۔

اجلاس کے دوران مشیر زراعت نے یونیورسٹی کی جانب سے پانچ مختلف اینڈومنٹ فنڈز کے کامیاب نفاذ کو سراہا اور طلبہ کی معاونت کے لیے منفرد اسکالرشپ ماڈل اور شمولیتی اسکالرشپ اقدامات کو قابلِ تحسین قرار دیا۔

وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر داؤد جان نے مشیر زراعت، سیکرٹری زراعت اور سینیٹ کے تمام اراکین کا مسلسل رہنمائی اور تعاون پر شکریہ ادا کیا۔ انہوں نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ یونیورسٹی تعلیم، تحقیق، اختراع اور خطے کی زرعی ترقی کے لیے اپنی کاوشیں مزید مؤثر بنائے گی۔

اجلاس کے اختتام پر مشیر زراعت اور شریک سینیٹ اراکین کو کامیاب اجلاس کے موقع پر اعزازی شیلڈز پیش کی گئیں۔ بعد ازاں رسمی اظہارِ تشکر کے ساتھ اجلاس اختتام پذیر ہوا اور شرکاء نے اجتماعی گروپ فوٹو بھی بنوائی۔

Training Workshop at NIFA, Peshawar on Advanced Food Irradiation Technologies

On August 19, 2026, students of B.Sc. (Hons.) 6th Semester, Department of Food Science and Technology, University of Agriculture Swat (UoAS) participated in a one-day training workshop at the Nuclear Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Peshawar, on the topic “Use of Electron Beam and X-rays Technology and Qualitative Analysis of Added Micronutrients in Foods.”

The workshop provided students with valuable theoretical knowledge and practical skills regarding the application of Electron Beam and X-ray technologies in food preservation and shelf-life extension of various food products.

As part of the visit, the students explored different food laboratories of the Food and Nutrition Division at NIFA, where they were briefed about ongoing research activities and had the opportunity to interact with scientists and researchers.

During the visit, Dr. Muhammad Rafiullah Khan, HoD, Department of Food Science and Technology, along with his team, held a productive meeting with Dr. Zahid Mehmood, Head, Division of Food and Nutrition; Dr. Gul Sanat Khan, Director NIFA, and other scientists. The meeting focused on ongoing research activities and potential opportunities for research collaboration and academic linkages between the institutions.

The session was concluded by Dr. Zahid Mehmood, while the Director NIFA and the Chief Guest distributed certificates among the participating students.

Practical Learning on Soybean Processing 🌱🌾

An informative and engaging practical class on oilseed crops, with a special focus on soybean, was conducted to highlight its importance, nutritional value, and potential for value addition.

During the session, Muhammad Adnan Khan, & Dr.Zahoor Lecturers, Department of Agronomy, provided an overview of soybean processing, while Dr. Fayaz Khan, Senior Research Officer, ARI Swat, demonstrated the preparation of soy milk from soybean seeds. The practical activity enabled students to understand the basic processing steps and connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in agriculture and food processing.

The session highlighted soybean as a multipurpose crop, rich in high-quality protein and oil, with significant potential for developing nutritious and value-added products. Such hands-on learning experiences help students explore the role of agriculture in food security, nutrition, entrepreneurship, value addition, and sustainable agriculture.

We sincerely appreciate Dr. Fayaz Khan for sharing his valuable knowledge and practical expertise with the students and making the session an informative and memorable learning experience.

🇵🇰 Independence Day Celebrations: Plantation Drive Held at The University of Agriculture Swat 🌱

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, The University of Agriculture Swat organized a special plantation drive to promote environmental sustainability, greenery, and a sense of responsibility towards our national environment.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dawood Jan, along with senior university officials, faculty members, administrative staff, and other participants, actively took part in the plantation activity. Saplings were planted at designated areas of the university campus, reaffirming the university’s commitment to making its campus greener, healthier, and more environmentally friendly.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that plantation is not only essential for protecting the environment but also represents a practical expression of patriotism. He highlighted the importance of collective efforts to combat climate change, protect natural resources, and provide a healthier and greener future for coming generations.

سوات: 14 اگست 2026، یونیورسٹی آف ایگریکلچر سوات میں پاکستان کا 79واں یومِ آزادی انتہائی جوش و خروش، حب الوطنی کے جذبے اور قومی وقار کے ساتھ منایا گیا۔ تقریب میں معزز وائس چانسلر، فیکلٹی، اسٹاف اور طلبہ نے شرکت کی۔ڈاکٹر میاں احمد رضا نے شرکاء کو خوش آمدید کہا۔ تقریب کا آغاز قومی پرچم لہرانے سے ہوا، جس کے بعد قومی ترانہ پڑھا گیا اور طلبہ نے فکر انگیز تقاریر پیش کیں۔ طلبہ نے پاکستان کی آزادی کی تاریخی اہمیت، بانیِ پاکستان قائد اعظم محمد علی جناح اور قومی ہیروز کی قربانیوں، اور پاکستان کی ترقی و خوشحالی کے لیے نوجوانوں کی ذمہ داریوں پر روشنی ڈالی۔اپنے اختتامی کلمات میں وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر داؤد جان نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ حب الوطنی محض ملک سے محبت کا اظہار نہیں بلکہ ایمانداری، لگن، نظم و ضبط اور ذمہ دارانہ شہریت کے ذریعے قوم کی خدمت کا عہد ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نوجوان، بالخصوص یونیورسٹی کے طلبہ، پاکستان کا مستقبل ہیں اور انہیں ملک کی ترقی میں تعمیری کردار ادا کرنا چاہیے۔ انہوں نے طلبہ کی حوصلہ افزائی کی کہ وہ علم حاصل کریں، پیشہ ورانہ مہارتیں پیدا کریں، قومی اقدار کو برقرار رکھیں، اور معاشرے میں مثبت تعاون کریں۔ انہوں نے حدیث مبارکہ ”خَيْرُ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَنْفَعُ النَّاسَ“ (بہترین انسان وہ ہے جو دوسروں کو فائدہ پہنچائے) کا حوالہ دیتے ہوئے مزید کہا کہ انسان کی قدر و قیمت اس بات سے ماپی جاتی ہے کہ وہ دوسروں کے لیے کتنا اچھا کام کرتا ہے۔ اس لیے وہ مضبوط کردار سازی کریں، مہارت حاصل کریں اور ایمانداری سے محنت کریں۔تقریب کا اختتام پاکستان کے امن، خوشحالی اور استحکام کے لیے خصوصی دعاؤں کے ساتھ ہوا۔ ملک کے لیے اپنی جانیں قربان کرنے والے شہداء اور قومی ہیروز کے درجات کی بلندی کے لیے بھی دعائیں کی گئیں۔ تقریب کا اختتام ”پاکستان ہمیشہ زندہ باد“ کے حب الوطنی سے بھرپور نعروں کے ساتھ ہوا۔

Swat: August 14 2026, The University of Agriculture Swat celebrated the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with great enthusiasm, patriotic spirit, and national pride. The ceremony was attended by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, faculty, staff and students.
Dr. Mian Ahmad Raza welcomed the participants. The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the national anthem and by thought-provoking speeches delivered by the students. The students highlighted the historical significance of Pakistan's independence, the sacrifices of the country's founding father Quid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and national heroes, and the responsibilities of youth towards the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
In concluding remarks Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dawood Jan emphasized that patriotism is not merely an expression of love for the country but a commitment to serve the nation through honesty, dedication, discipline, and responsible citizenship. He stated that the youth, particularly university students, are the future of Pakistan and must play a constructive role in the country's development. He encouraged students to acquire knowledge, develop professional skills, uphold national values, and contribute positively to society. Added that to build a strong character, achieve excellency and work hard with honesty referring to “خير الناس من ينفع الناس” A person's worth is measured by how much good they do for others.
The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the peace, prosperity, stability of Pakistan. Prayers were also offered for the eternal peace of the martyrs and national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country. The ceremony ended with patriotic slogans of “Pakistan Hamesha Zindabad”.
