Establishment and Inauguration of Counseling Center
Govt. Graduate College for Women, Mumtazabad, Multan
Reference: Letter No. No.So.Training)10/2026 dated 4th April, 2026, issued by the Government of the Punjab, Higher Education Department, regarding “Establishment and Standardization of Counseling Centers in Colleges.”
In compliance with the directions of the Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab, conveyed through the above-mentioned letter, the Counseling Center at Govt. Graduate College for Women, Mumtazabad, Multan, was successfully established and formally inaugurated.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Fareed Sharif, Director Public Instructions (Colleges), Higher Education Department South Punjab, along with Deputy Director Colleges, Multan, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Mushtaq and Ms Hufza Aorangzaib, Principal of Govt. Graduate College for Women, Mumtazabad, Multan. The initiative reflects the department’s commitment to providing structured psychological, educational, and career support to students, in line with the policy guidelines.
The Counseling Center has been set up to cater to multiple student needs, including psychological counseling, socio-economic guidance, health and hygiene awareness, educational counseling, and career and employability support, as outlined in the official directive. Both infrastructural (hard components) and professional (soft components) aspects have been considered to ensure effective functioning of the center.
The counseling team comprises qualified and experienced professionals, including Dr. Haleema Parveen, assistant professor of Psychology and a renowned clinical psychologist with vast experience, and Dr. Safia Rasheed. During the inauguration, a practical counseling session was conducted by Dr. Haleema Parveen, focusing on a student experiencing overthinking. The session was highly interactive and impactful, where practical strategies and techniques were shared to help the student manage and control overthinking effectively.
The session was conducted with great professionalism and was widely appreciated by the distinguished guests. Dr. Fareed Sharif DPI colleges HED South Punjab acknowledged the exceptional counseling skills of Dr. Haleema Parveen and expressed his intent to organize similar counseling sessions across colleges in Multan, recognizing the importance of such initiatives for both students and teachers.
The Principal also appreciated the expertise, knowledge, and dedication of Dr. Haleema Parveen, highlighting the positive impact of professional counseling on students’ well-being and confidence. Dr. Safia Rasheed also shared her valuable insights on the importance of counseling services in educational institutions, emphasizing the need for continuous support systems for students.
The event proved to be a highly enriching and successful experience, reinforcing the significance of counseling centers in promoting mental health awareness, academic success, and overall personality development among students and faculty alike.
