Department of Political Science, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan plans launched a reading club to increase book interest among students. An opening ceremony was held on October 20, 2020 for this purpose. Vice Chancellor Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan Prof. Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event was presided by the Chairman, Department of Political Science, Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar. Addressing the event, Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar highlighted the purpose of the Reading Club. He mentioned that this club is not only for students and faculty of political science but also students from other departments as well as students from other universities have joined the club through our online registration forum. Members from other cities or universities will attend our session through online forums. Every month a book will be reviewed by the members of book reading club and different aspects of the book will be discussed to have multidimensional knowledge about a litrature. Prof. Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi highlighted the importance of reading books and said that in this modern world the old trends of reading books are not attractive anymore. So, adopting the modern techniques in this perspective can definitely bring change. He appreciated this initiative of Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar. He emphasized that there is an urgent need to nurture the trend of reading book among all sections of the society & this could pave the way for the introduction of new thinkers in the society.

IMAGINE yourself, sitting in a group, arnestly and eagerly holding a discussion about your favourite book. Imagine the topics being learner-generated and the discussion natural, without formal comprehension questions or post-reading exercises. In our book club, this is not just a glorious pipe dream—it’s reality. Book club is not about being right or wrong, but about learning, sharing and growing together.
So here are some rules:
1. A book will be shared to the members through email ID's/ WhatsApp fortnightly.
2. Reader will read the book within the mentioned time period.
3. A Reader's circle will be arranged by the department fortnightly. The purpose of this session will be brief discussion about the book and exchange of information they have learned through that book.
