Educational Visit of DVM students at FVS BZU
The students of 8th Semester DVM from The University of Agriculture Dera Ismail Khan visited the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan for a two-day educational study tour held on 12th and 13th May. The visiting students were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Faqir Muhammad, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Akhtar, Chairman Department of Clinical Sciences, while the visit was coordinated by the focal person Dr. Ejaz Ahmad.
A key highlight of the visit was an advanced practical session conducted by Dr. Ejaz Ahmad, who demonstrated modern reproductive biotechnologies, including laparoscopic artificial insemination (AI), o**m pick-up (OPU), embryo transfer (ET) in goats, ultrasonography in large and small ruminants, electroejaculation, semen cryopreservation, and computer-assisted semen analysis (CASA), providing valuable hands-on exposure to contemporary veterinary reproductive techniques.
Prof. Dr. Irfan Anwar briefed the students on the significance and working of the University Diagnostic Laboratory (UDL) in veterinary diagnostics and disease investigation. In addition, Dr. Atif Nisar, Dr. Akbar Shahid, Dr. Irtaza Hussain, Dr. Mian Muhammad Awais, and Dr. Abubakar Sufyan facilitated the students during visits to various laboratories, including Microbiology, Parasitology, and Nutrition laboratories.
The students also visited livestock and poultry farms, including horse, large ruminant, small ruminant, and poultry units, gaining practical insight into animal management and farm operations. The study tour proved highly informative and significantly enhanced the students’ practical knowledge and professional understanding of modern veterinary sciences. The visiting delegation was accompanied by Dr. Tayyab, Dr. Babar, and Dr. Fateh Ullah from The University of Agriculture Dera Ismail Khan.
