Proud Moment for GPGC Nowshera and our literary society!

Muhammad Ali, a 4th semester student of the Department of English, GPGC Nowshera, recently appeared on the morning show Sahar on AVT Khyber, hosted by Zaki ur Rehman. As a Youth Ambassador, rababist, guitarist, and vocalist, Muhammad Ali was invited to inspire and encourage the youth through his journey in music and leadership.

We celebrate his talent, dedication, and passion—an inspiration for his peers and a pride for the college!

April 30 – The Literary Society, Department of English, GPGC Nowshera, held a thought-provoking book circle on Mohsin Hamid’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Students from the 2nd, 4th, and 6th semesters led the discussion, engaging peers and faculty in a critical exploration of key themes including the layered meanings of the title, the symbolic relationship between Changez and Erica, the politics of silence, nostalgia, and the post-9/11 challenges of Muslim identity, xenophobia, and Islamophobia.

The session showcased the power of literature in helping students interpret complex political and cultural realities through narrative.

📚 Book Circle | March 1 | A God in Every Stone by Kamila Shamsie

The Literary Society, Department of English, GPGC Nowshera, held an insightful discussion on A God in Every Stone, exploring its deep connections to Peshawar’s history, politics, and culture. Students and faculty engaged in thought-provoking dialogue on:

🔹 Peshawar’s historical and cultural legacy from Darius and Ashoka to modern times.
🔹 Memory as a source of truth and its reliability in historical narratives.
🔹 Unsung heroes of the subcontinent, especially from Peshawar, who fought in British wars.
🔹 The Qissa Khwani Massacre and its impact on anti-colonial resistance.
🔹 Bacha Khan’s nonviolent struggle, challenging stereotypes of Pashtuns as warlike.

🌟 2nd Book Review Session: Words and World 🌟

The Literary Society, Department of English, GPGC Nowshera, held its second "Words and World" session with engaging book reviews by:

📖 Waqar Ahmed (3rd semester): The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, exploring dreams and destiny.
📖 Abdul Basit (3rd semester): The Murder of History by K.K. Aziz, reflecting on distorted historical narratives.

The session was graced by Professor Ehsan Ullah, Principal GPGC Nowshera, who appreciated the students' efforts and encouraged intellectual growth through literature.

Students of BS 5th semester, Department of English, GPGC Nowshera, attended an amazing dramatic rendition of Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus at the Department of English, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.

The performance brought Marlowe’s timeless themes of ambition, morality, and the human soul to life, leaving the audience inspired and captivated.

🎭 A memorable experience that deepened our students' appreciation for classical literature and theatrical arts.

🎤 Special Remarks: Mr. Sadiq Nawaz, Lecturer in English, praised their efforts and spoke on the role of books in shaping lives.
