UO' Rohail Rahat represents Pakistan through art at US Consulate event

The University of Okara's (UO) Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, Rohail Rahat, represented Pakistan through his artwork at a special event marking the America Freedom 250 Liberty Bell Project, held in Lahore.
Rohail was invited by the US Consul General Lahore, Stetson Sanders. The project provided Pakistani artists an opportunity to present artistic interpretations of freedom through the iconic Liberty Bell.
Rohail’s artistic contribution was appreciated by the US Department of State representatives, who also discussed his work and prospects for future academic and cultural collaborations.
The event was attended by the Governor Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and representatives of universities across Punjab, besides US officials.

UO students showcase functional food innovations at DPS Renala

Students of the 7th semester of Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND) at the University of Okara (UO) visited DPS Renala for an interactive seminar and awareness session on functional foods for brain health.
The seminar, organised by the UO's Department of Allied Health Sciences, focused on the role of functional foods in cognitive well-being, nutritional assessment and product innovation.
Lecturers including Ms. Rubina Amjad and Ms. Khushbakhat conducted the session under the supervision of Head of the Department, Dr. Awais Saleem.
The students were introduced to the nutritional significance of functional foods and their potential role in supporting brain health. The session also covered product development, sensory evaluation and practical approaches to food innovation.
Later, the students presented their innovative functional food products, followed by a product tasting and sensory evaluation activity. The practical demonstration provided participants with an opportunity to explore the application of nutrition science in food development.

UO international webinar attracts 115 registrations

The University of Okara (UO) has completed the test run for an international webinar on “How to Build a Theory in Sociology & Psychology”, with 115 participants registering for the online event.
The webinar is being organised by the Department of Sociology and Psychology and is scheduled to be held on Saturday (Sept 26) through Google Meet.
According to the organisers, around 25 registered participants are from international destinations, including the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, China, Malaysia, Oman and Nigeria, besides participants from other countries.
Prof. Dr. Craig J. Selby, CEO of The Third Degree, Australia, and Obuda University, Hungary, will deliver the keynote address, while the UO's Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mubin, will attend the webinar as Chief Guest.
The organisers said the international participation reflected growing academic engagement and interest in research and theory-building in sociology and psychology.
The webinar will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (Pakistan Standard Time). The test run was conducted to ensure smooth technical arrangements and facilitate participants joining from different countries.
The department said the webinar would provide students, researchers and academics an opportunity to benefit from an international academic discussion on theory development in the social sciences.

VC announces new library, modernized curriculum in Information Management’s Annual Meetup

The annual meetup of students of the BS Information Management programme at the University of Okara (UO) held at Gymkhana Okara today, providing students an opportunity to showcase their creative talents and interact with university leadership.
The event was organised by the Assistant Professor of Information Management, Dr. Rashid Maqbool, and faculty members of the department. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mubin, attended the gathering as Chief Guest. He was accompanied by the Director External Linkages, Dr. Ekaterina Gavrishyk; Registrar, Jamil Asim, and Deputy Director Public Relations, Sharjeel Ahmed.
The students presented a variety of performances, including music, poetry and a sitcom, which received appreciation from the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Mubin said the UO had created a striking impact in the higher education sector through a number of benchmark initiatives. He appreciated the university team for its dedication and hard work.
The VC advised the Information Management faculty to broaden the scheme of studies by introducing versatile and contemporary courses, including management and artificial intelligence, to equip students with skills relevant to emerging professional requirements.
He also announced that a new, modern library would be established at the university campus within a month.
Prof. Mubin urged students to focus on developing their professional skills while also cultivating wisdom, empathy and compassion. He said education should contribute not only to professional growth but also to the development of responsible and humane individuals.
Dr. Maqbool appreciated the VC's interventions for the development of infrastructure and faculty at the university. He said graduates of the department were serving at various prestigious positions, reflecting the academic and professional growth of the programme.
He also gave a brief overview of the history and development of the Department of Information Management and acknowledged the support and contributions of his faculty members in strengthening the department.

UO to hold awareness walk for 'Respectful Attitudes Towards Women'

The Women Development Centre (WDC) of the University of Okara (UO), in collaboration with the Department of Sociology, will organise an awareness walk on Monday to promote respectful social attitudes towards girls and women.
The walk, being held as part of a sensitisation drive on the directions of the Higher Education Department, will begin at 10:30am from Academic Block-IV and culminate at Academic Block-I.
Faculty members, teaching fellows and students have been invited to participate in the walk and join the university's efforts to promote respect, dignity, equality and positive social attitudes towards girls and women.
The organisers said the activity was aimed at raising awareness about the importance of a safe, respectful and inclusive social environment and strengthening the collective commitment to ensuring dignity and equality for women and girls.
