Peshawar (April 28, 2026) — A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the National Commission for Human Development and Islamia College Peshawar to promote literacy and encourage youth participation in social development activities.
Under this agreement, students will be given opportunities to actively participate in community service initiatives, particularly the “Each One Teaches One” program, aimed at improving literacy in society. The agreement has been finalized in accordance with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
This program was launched in 2024 following the education emergency declared by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, with the objective of mobilizing collective efforts to eliminate illiteracy across the country.
The MoU was signed by Anwar Iqbal, Director Operations of NCHD, and Professor Dr. Ahmad Rehman Seljuki, Vice Chancellor of Islamia College Peshawar.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Mansoor Jalali, Registrar, and Junaid Mahmood, Estate Officer, along with faculty members of the university. Representatives from NCHD, including Shams Khan, Ejaz Khan, and Ibrahim Jan, were also present.
On the occasion, the speakers expressed their commitment that such collaborations between educational institutions and national organizations would not only help increase the literacy rate but also promote a sense of social responsibility and national service among the youth.
This initiative reflects a shared vision of achieving social improvement and sustainable development through education.
