First Student of Islamia Collegiate School, Dost Muhammad Khan

Dost Muhammad Khan was the first student admitted to Islamia Collegiate School on May 5, 1913, marking the formal beginning of what
later evolved into Islamia College, Peshawar.

He was the elder son of Mr. Muhammad Amir Khan, a landlord of Village Babuzai, near Shah Alam, Charsadda Road, Peshawar. Mr. Muhammad Amir Khan was among the prominent leaders of the All-India Muslim League and served as Vice President of the Muslim League, Peshawar District, from 1938 to 1946–47.

During his teenage years, Dost Muhammad Khan faced a false-political case, which deeply affected his life. Thereafter, he chose a simple and grounded existence, spending most of his time in the mosque and in community welfare activities. He was a good writer, though he did not continue his formal education beyond the collegiate level. Politically, he remained associated with the Muslim League.

His younger brother, Faiz Muhammad Khan, served in the Muslim National Guards and remained in charge of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s visits to Islamia College, Peshawar. For his services, he received letters of appreciation from the Quaid-e-Azam.
