Prof Dr. Zia Ul Haq,s Tenure as Vice Chancellor of KMU Concludes; Prof Dr. Rubina Nazli Assumes Charge as Acting Vice Chancellor.

Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, Meritorious Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq, relinquished charge of his office, following which Dean Basic Medical Sciences, Prof Dr. Rubina Nazli, assumed charge as Acting Vice Chancellor. A dignified ceremony to mark the transition was held at KMU Alexander Fleming Hall, attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Khaliq ur Rehman, Prof Dr. Zia Ul Haq, Prof Dr. Rubina Nazli, Registrar KMU Inam Ullah Khan Wazir, Deans, faculty members, administrative officers.

On the occasion, Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq presented an overview of his leadership tenure from 2020 to 2026. He said that institutional strengthening, academic excellence, promotion of research, digital transformation and creating a positive impact on the healthcare system remained key priorities during his tenure. He said that transforming KMU into a modern, research-oriented and internationally recognized institution had been a fundamental part of his vision.

He appreciated the efforts of the faculty and administrative staff in making the University paperless, implementing digital systems, improving the quality of research and enhancing KMU’s impact at the international level. He said these achievements were the result of the collective efforts of the entire KMU team.

KP Health Minister Khaliq Ur Rehman paid tribute to Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq for his services and said that he had played an important role in the development of KMU through dedication, hard work and strong administrative capabilities. He termed the transfer of responsibilities a welcome example of a smooth transition of leadership.

Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rubina Nazli expressed her commitment to carrying forward the vision and mission of Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Haq with the support of the faculty, administration and other stakeholders. She said that efforts would continue to further strengthen academic and research standards, digital transformation, institutional stability and KMU’s positive contribution to the healthcare system.

KMU Holds Colorful Ceremony to Celebrate 79th Independence Day

Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, organized a colorful ceremony at the Dr. Hafizullah Auditorium to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan. The chief guest was KMU Registrar Inam Ullah Khan Wazir. Dr. Irfan, Director IPM&R, Muhammad Farooq, Director Sports and Youth Affairs, Tahir Ayub, Director Administration, faculty members, administrative officers, employees, and a large number of students attended the event.

The ceremony began with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the university lawn, followed by a salute to the national flag and the national anthem. Various activities were organized on the occasion, including speech and quiz competitions among students. Documentaries and national songs further added enthusiasm to the event, while the participants greatly appreciated the performances by the students.

Addressing the ceremony, chief guest and Registrar Inam Ullah Khan Wazir said that celebrating Independence Day with enthusiasm is a sign of a vibrant nation. He said that the people of Pakistan achieved independence after countless sacrifices and hardships; therefore, protecting the country’s freedom and leading it toward development is a shared national responsibility.

He further said that positive and constructive activities promote patriotism, self-confidence, and national awareness among young people. Students are the future of the country, and they should use their abilities to serve the nation and the country.

The Registrar urged students to draw lessons of self-belief, determination, courage, and national responsibility from the poetry of Allama Iqbal. He encouraged them to make knowledge, character, and hard work their guiding principles and to play their full role in the development of the country.

Muhammad Farooq, Dr. Irfan, and Dr. Najma Naz also addressed the ceremony and highlighted the importance of independence, national unity, and the responsibilities of young people.

At the end of the ceremony, prizes were distributed among students who demonstrated outstanding performance, followed by the cutting of the Independence Day cake. The ceremony concluded with enthusiastic chants of “Pakistan Zindabad.”

KMU and K2X Tech Sign Five-Year Strategic Partnership to Promote Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence

Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, and K2X Tech (Private) Limited have signed a five-year strategic partnership agreement to promote digital health, Artificial Intelligence (AI), modern healthcare technologies, research, innovation, and technology-driven solutions in the health sector.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq and K2X Tech Chief Executive Officer Dr. Amir Saeed. K2X Tech Chairman Dr. Tahir Riaz participated online from Denmark. Director ORIC Dr. Zohaib Khan, Additional Director ORIC Dr. Zeeshan Kabir, and Director KMU Business Incubation Center (KUBIC) Wasim-ul-Haq were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq said that modern technology and Artificial Intelligence can play an important role in developing innovative, effective, and cost-efficient solutions for the healthcare sector. He said that collaboration between KMU and industry would help translate research into practical applications while creating new opportunities for students, researchers, and young entrepreneurs.

Dr. Amir Saeed, CEO of K2X Tech, said that the company would work with KMU to develop digital health platforms, advanced health information systems, and AI-based solutions aimed at addressing emerging healthcare needs.

Under the partnership, the two institutions will collaborate in joint research, development of innovative products and solutions, technology commercialization, training, and promotion of new healthcare-related business ventures. Through KUBIC, emerging startups will also be provided mentorship, technical support, and opportunities to connect with potential investors.
