A remarkable seminar titled “Evidence from Crime Scene to Courtroom” was successfully held on 11th September 2025 at the Department of Forensic Science, University of Poonch, Rawalakot.
Honourable Deputy Commissioner Sardar Umer Farook graced the event as Chief Guest. Advocate Najam Farook delivered an impactful talk on the Need of Forensic Science in the Judicial System and Law Enforcement, while Dr. Zubair Ahmad highlighted the Applications of DNA in Forensic Science.
A thrilling and informative documentary, the first of its kind at the University, was presented by our 1st-year students, showcasing crime scene evidence collection, preservation, chain of custody, courtroom trials, and laboratory demonstrations.
The seminar was organized under the dynamic leadership of Professor Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, who delivered the vote of thanks and appreciated the collective efforts of the team. Dr. Shahid Iqbal Awan, Chairman Department of Forensic Science, opened the session with an introduction to the BS Forensic Science program covering key fields such as DNA, Fingerprints, Cybercrime, Artificial Intelligence in Forensics, Digital Forensics, Toxicology and more.

This seminar marks an important step towards linking academic knowledge with practical needs of law enforcement, judiciary, and the justice system. It strengthens future perspectives for our students and enhances the University’s role in producing skilled forensic professionals.
