Sha'oor The Society took the lead and like always, through the generous support of friends, we were able to reach to various villages of Thar. We installed water hand pumps at various places where underground water was available. Similarly, started the construction of water reservation underground tanks for possible storage of the water. KDF helped the community in running an RO Plant (reverse osmosis plant) that converts saline water into drinkable water. In days to come, we aim to help local community schools and basic health facilities in Thar.
The villages that have been supported through hand pumps and underground water tanks are as follows ; Hingoro khaskheli , Haji Baig jakhro, Waryam Mahar , Ahmed dars, Jumoon samejo , Manthar Samejo.
Tharparkar is one of 23 districts of Sindh province and is spread over 77000 square kilometers. It is the continuation of ancient Indian Desert, which largest portion is in Rajasthan at one side while Desert of Cholistan is at its rear side. From December 2013 to March 2014, more than 300 children died in Thar due to malnutrition. In most of the villages of Thar, there’s either no water at all or it’s not fit for human consumption.
