Today marked the inaugural day of the Maryam Nawaz Autism Center, where the Special Education Department warmly welcomed special students, their parents, and participants from the community. The event symbolized a significant milestone in Punjab’s journey toward inclusive and equitable education.
The Worthy Special Advisor to the Chief Minister, Madam Sania Ashiq, briefed the participants on the vision, mission, and long-term objectives behind the establishment of the first-ever Autism Center in Punjab. She highlighted the government’s strong commitment to early diagnosis, individualized intervention, therapeutic services, and skill-based education for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ensuring their meaningful inclusion in society.
The ceremony was further honored by the gracious presence of the Secretary Special Education, Director General, Director (Planning & Development), Director (Administration), Director (Academics), Director (Monitoring), along with other senior administrative, teaching, and professional staff. Their presence reflected collective leadership and institutional support for strengthening autism-focused services across the province.
Parents and community members appreciated the initiative and expressed optimism that the center would serve as a model institution, providing evidence-based practices, professional support, and a nurturing environment for children with autism. The inauguration reaffirmed the Government of Punjab’s resolve to promote inclusion, dignity, and empowerment for persons with special needs.

Mr. Kashif Mehmood Nasir, Worthy Principal, Govt. Degree College of Special Education, Rawalpindi delivered an outstanding and highly informative lecture on the PEEDA Act at Govt. In-Service Teachers Training College, Lahore, in connection with Promotion Linked Training of Academic Staff of Special Education Department, Govt. of the Punjab.

The session was marked by clarity, practical insights, and an in-depth understanding of service laws. Participants greatly appreciated the way complex legal provisions were explained in a simple, relevant, and engaging manner. His vast administrative experience and professional expertise made the lecture both impactful and enlightening.

On January 26, 2026 (Monday), the results of the December Examinations–2025 were announced at Govt. Degree College of Special Education, Rawalpindi. A Parents–Teachers Meeting (PTM) was also held on the same day, which witnessed active participation from parents and guardians.

During the meeting, teachers briefed parents about students’ academic performance, attendance, behavior, and overall progress. Matters related to learning outcomes, special educational needs, discipline, and future academic planning were discussed in detail. Parents appreciated the efforts of the faculty and shared their valuable feedback and concerns, which were addressed by the teachers in a constructive manner.

The meeting concluded in a cordial environment with mutual assurance of continued collaboration between parents and teachers for the academic growth, character building, and holistic development of the students. The administration emphasized the importance of regular parent–teacher interaction to ensure better educational outcomes for students with special needs.

A Seminar and Awareness Walk highlighting the importance of education was organized on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Govt. Degree College of Special Education, Rawalpindi.
