Today marked the inaugural day of the Maryam Nawaz Autism Center, where the Special Education Department warmly welcomed special students, their parents, and participants from the community. The event symbolized a significant milestone in Punjab’s journey toward inclusive and equitable education.
The Worthy Special Advisor to the Chief Minister, Madam Sania Ashiq, briefed the participants on the vision, mission, and long-term objectives behind the establishment of the first-ever Autism Center in Punjab. She highlighted the government’s strong commitment to early diagnosis, individualized intervention, therapeutic services, and skill-based education for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ensuring their meaningful inclusion in society.
The ceremony was further honored by the gracious presence of the Secretary Special Education, Director General, Director (Planning & Development), Director (Administration), Director (Academics), Director (Monitoring), along with other senior administrative, teaching, and professional staff. Their presence reflected collective leadership and institutional support for strengthening autism-focused services across the province.
Parents and community members appreciated the initiative and expressed optimism that the center would serve as a model institution, providing evidence-based practices, professional support, and a nurturing environment for children with autism. The inauguration reaffirmed the Government of Punjab’s resolve to promote inclusion, dignity, and empowerment for persons with special needs.
