The foundations of this city were laid in the first quarter of 20th centuary. However it got in immortality after the creation of Pakistan from the point of view of development work, Renala Khurd is considered second only to district headquarters Okara. The establishment of college here was an old demand and it was even more inevitable after Renala was declared a Tehsil. On 10th of August 2003 the
then CM Punjab Ch. Pervaiz Elahi while inaugurating Government Degree College for Women announced the establishment of Degree College for boys here and on 09th September 2003 a formal notification was issued by the Education, Punjab barely one month after the notification classes formally started. At the time a building for college was taken on rent near Jaafar Stadium Renala Khurd and teachers of Govt. College Gogera offered their services for teaching here. After approval of gazetted and non gazetted staff vacancies by the Education Department, Govt. of the Punjab, these teachers were permanently appointed in Govt. Degree College, Renala Khurd Okara. after the district government issued grants for it in early 2004, new furniture for class-rooms, modern scientific apparatus and books for its library were provided. In May 2005 Chaudhary Mukhtar Ahmad was formally appointed second principal of the college. He concentrated his attention on academic process and tried his best to fully activate and organize it. in March 2005, an area of 13 acres was approved for the college at the bank of Lower Bari Doab Canal. In March 2006, construction work started on the college building, and it was completed in 2009. In May 2009, academic work started in the newly constructed building , and Prof. Rana Iftekhar Ahmad assured the charge of Principal. The same year ICS and BA classes were introduced in the college. In September 2011, Professor Dr. Muhammad Hamood Lakhvi get appointed as Principal. It is hoped that under his guidance, the college will flourish in all fields and becoming a great educational institution, prove a milestone in the development of this area
