79th Independence Day Celebrations at the University of Sahiwal 🇵🇰

The University of Sahiwal proudly celebrated the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with patriotic spirit, national pride, and prayers for the prosperity and progress of the country.

The celebrations commenced with Quran Khwani at the University Mosque, followed by special prayers for the long life, peace, stability, and prosperity of Pakistan.

The first Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held at the Vice Chancellor’s House, where the national flag was hoisted with a Guard of Honour presented by the University Security Wing.

The main Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held at the Administration Block. The national flag was hoisted by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Javaid Akhtar, in the presence of Member Provincial Assembly Malik Qasim Nadeem, Registrar Syed Ghulam Ali Asghar, and senior administrative and academic leadership, including Dr. Amin Abid, Dr. Hafiz Tariq Masood, Dr. Ikram Ahmad, Dr. Asif Nawaz, Dr. Muhammad Rafique, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah, Dr. Muhammad Husnain and Dr. Saira Irfan, along with administrative and security staff.

As part of the celebrations, Director Estate Management Dr. Ikram Ahmad and Resident Officer Dr. Hafiz Tariq Masood arranged tree plantation. Prof. Dr. Javaid Akhtar, Malik Qasim Nadeem, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah and Dr. Saira Irfan also participated in a tree plantation activity, symbolizing the shared commitment to a Green and Prosperous Pakistan. Special prayers were offered for the continued progress, peace, and prosperity of the country.

The celebrations concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony marking the 79th Birthday of Pakistan, accompanied by heartfelt wishes for the nation’s continued success and development.

University of Sahiwal successfully conducted a one-day workshop titled “Startup Investment Readiness: Thinking Like a Venture Capitalist” under the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), with the support of the U.S. Mission in Pakistan.

The activity was led by Ms. Syeda Nitashah Anwer, Lecturer, PhD Scholar, and U.S. Fellow Alumna, who received the PUAN grant to organize this initiative.

The activity was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Muhammad Husnain, Associate Professor in the Departement of Business Administration, who also served as the Keynote Speaker at the workshop.

The workshop was attended by PUAN alumni, entrepreneurs, and university students from different areas of Punjab, providing participants with an opportunity to learn about startup investment readiness, venture capital, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Academic Heads Meeting – Fall 2026 Preparations

A meeting of the Academic Heads of all academic departments was held at the University of Sahiwal, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Javed Akhtar, with the participation of Registrar Mr. Syed Ghulam Ali Asghar, Director Academics Dr. Muhammad Husnain, Director Student Affairs Dr. Muhammad Waseem Tufail, and Chairpersons/Academic Heads of all academic departments.

The meeting focused on key academic preparations for the upcoming Fall 2026 Semester, including finalization of the Academic Calendar, Centralized Timetable, and essential academic and administrative arrangements for the smooth commencement of the new semester.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized effective coordination, timely completion of academic preparations, and academic readiness to ensure a well-organized and successful start to the Fall 2026 Semester.

🌱 Tree Plantation Drive at University of Sahiwal — “Bootta Laao, Sahiwal Sajao” 🌿

The University of Sahiwal successfully organized a Tree Plantation Drive as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, a greener campus, and a healthier future for the community.

The plantation drive was graced by Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal, Capt. (Retd.) Samiullah Farooq, along with Assistant Commissioner Maham Bilal Ranjha. The initiative was carried out under the slogan “Bootta Laao, Sahiwal Sajao”, promoting collective responsibility for a clean, green, and sustainable Sahiwal.

The drive reflects the “Green Campus” vision of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Javaid Akhtar, aimed at enhancing the University’s natural environment and fostering environmental awareness among students, faculty, and staff.
