GCWUF Makes History with Pakistan’s First SIAM Student Chapter at a Women’s University

June 4, 2026: Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.) has inaugurated Pakistan’s first SIAM Student Chapter at a women’s university, launched by the Department of Mathematics under the Faculty of Computing & Numerical Sciences.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the department, especially the student president, Haseeba Maqsood, and her team, for leading this initiative, and encouraged the university's students to join the chapter.
Prof. Dr. Saima Akram, Chairperson, Department of Mathematics and Chapter Ambassador, introduced SIAM’s global platform and acknowledged the Vice Chancellor’s support in bringing this opportunity to GCWUF.

VC GC Women University Faisalabad Inaugurates First-Ever Language Lab to Advance Language Learning

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.) inaugurated the first-ever Language Lab at Government College Women University Faisalabad, established in the Department of English under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. The facility is the University's first dedicated laboratory for language learning, linguistics, communication skills, and technology-enhanced language education.

Appreciating the efforts of the Faculty and the Department, Prof. Dr. Ameen termed the Lab a significant academic development and emphasized its effective utilization for strengthening students' language proficiency, communication skills, and professional development.

Dr. Shazia Adnan, Coordinator, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and Dr. Sadia Waheed, Chairperson, Department of English, thanked the Vice Chancellor for her support and patronage in establishing the lab.

The ceremony included a curtain-raising, ribbon-cutting, and cake-cutting, and was attended by heads of academic and administrative departments, faculty members, and students.

As part of GCWUF’s commitment to social outreach and community engagement, Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Head of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, participated in the awareness seminar “Mental Health in Current Era” organized by FWCCI in collaboration with FCCI.
