The Road to Justice – A Powerful Seminar on Road Harassment Successfully Held at GCWUS Sialkot
The Department of Sociology and Criminology at Government College Women University Sialkot successfully organized an impactful and thought-provoking seminar titled “The Road to Justice” on Road Harassment on 19th May 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Auditorium Hall, GCWUS Sialkot.
The seminar was conducted under the visionary supervision of Prof. Dr. Yasir Nawaz Manj, Chairperson, Department of Sociology and Criminology and Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. In his remarks, he highlighted that road harassment is not merely a social issue but a challenge to human dignity, safety, and justice. He emphasized the need for collective social responsibility, awareness, and legal literacy to build a safer and more respectful society for women and all citizens.

The event was skillfully organized by the dedicated faculty members of the Department of Sociology and Criminology: Dr. Umair Ashraf, Dr. Saba Javed, and Ms. Farwa Hidayat.
The seminar focused on:
Awareness regarding road harassment and women’s safety
Promotion of justice, legal awareness, and responsible citizenship
Practical strategies for building a safer, respectful, and harassment-free society
Students and faculty members actively participated in the session, making it highly interactive, informative, and intellectually enriching.
A special appreciation was extended to Adv. Saeed Ahmed Bhalli, President Bar Council, for acknowledging and supporting this highly informative and need-of-the-hour initiative by the university. He appreciated the efforts of the Department in creating awareness on such a critical social issue.
The Traffic Education Wing, District Sialkot also shared valuable guidance regarding road safety, responsible public behavior, legal protections, and preventive measures against harassment. Their informative session was highly appreciated by the participants and added practical value to the seminar.
Chairperson Prof. Dr. Yasir Nawaz Manj also acknowledged and appreciated the active participation of the faculty members and students of the Department of Political Science & International Relations, whose presence contributed positively to the success and academic spirit of the event.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the Chairperson expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Sialkot Bar Council, Traffic Police Sialkot, honourable guest speakers, faculty members, students, and the entire organizing team of the Department of Sociology and Criminology for their valuable support and contributions in making the seminar a remarkable success.
