Department of Forensic Sciences - Swat Official page of the Department of Forensic Sciences at the University of Swat Criminal forensics has recently been made popular by TV shows such as CBS’s CSI.

Forensic is the application of science widely used in the judgments of legal cases or disputes. The role of the forensic scientist is to provide the justice system with unbiased and scientifically precise information. These scientists specialize in examining physical evidence to link a crime scene, suspect, and/or victim. The field of forensic science has received extensive exposure in recent year

s and is now regarded as a highly respected discipline among scientists and criminality. Due to immense importance of forensic sciences, the Department of Forensic Sciences at University of Swat was established in 2014 to facilitate teaching of the basic ideas and concepts of forensic sciences to upcoming forensic scientists and students or persons already associated with the legal field. It is the first department for the subject of forensics in the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and, the first in the country to offer BS in Forensic Science, 1st batch of which graduated in 2021.

Theory Meets Reality: A Deep Dive into the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) 🧬🔍
Our Forensic Science students recently took a significant step toward their professional careers with an immersive technical visit to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL).

Moving beyond textbooks, students explored the high-stakes world of forensic analysis through five specialized departments:

🔫 Fi****ms & Ballistics: The science of trajectory and weapon identification.

✍️ Questioned Documents: Uncovering forgery through meticulous analysis.

🔢 Serial Number Restoration: The specialized recovery of tampered evidence.

💊 Narcotics Section: Chemical profiling of controlled substances.

📦 Evidence Receiving: Mastering the critical "Chain of Custody."

🚨 CRIME SCENE IN PROGRESS: The Applied CSI Showcase!

The campus turned into a field laboratory as our Forensic Science students brought MINICON 2025 to life with 8 meticulously planned Mock Crime Scene Reconstructions. 🕵️‍♂️🔍

From homicides and arson to hit-and-runs, our student teams demonstrated elite teamwork and strict adherence to forensic protocols. A huge round of applause for our specialized units: 🏆 Anthropolians • Sherlockians • Crime Crackers • Dark Detectives • Enigma Codex • Silent Hunters • Warriorensics • Locardians

A Special Visit: We were honored by the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher (SAARC Gold Medalist), who toured the scenes and commended the students for their high standard of work and realistic application of forensic techniques. 🌟

Seeing these teams transform theory into practice proves that the future of investigation is in very capable hands!
