Department of Rural Sociology, FASS, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam Rural Sociology Department was established in the year 1991 at Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam Agri. (Hons) in Rural Sociology,

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology was
Bifurcated into two departments namely 1) Agricultural Economics and 2) Rural Sociology in 1991. After the establishment of the department, the various degree programs are offered:
✔ B.Sc. (Hons) in Rural Sociology,
✔ PhD In Rural Sociology,
✔MPhil in Rural Development (Evening Self Finance )
Besides, this the department offers

Different Minor/ Elective/ supporting courses for the other faculties as well. such as,
✔ Environmental Sociology in the Department of Energy Environment, ✔ Sociology for Engineers at the Faculty of Agriculture Engineering, ✔Introductory Rural Sociology for the BS English Program at FASS.
✔Anthropology for the Faculty AHVS,
✔Introductory Rural Sociology for Fisheries and Aquaculture Program at the Faculty AHVS,
Rural Sociology is the latest addition to the degree programs being offered by the University in professionally significant and highly job-oriented disciplines, not only in Social Sciences but demand for skilled manpower in this specialization has recently increased manifold in Non-Governmental organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), VDOs Village Development Organization and other organizations as well.
