*SAU Launches Transparent, Merit-Based Undergraduate Admissions System*
Tandojam (Press Release) Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam has introduced a transparent, modern and student-friendly undergraduate admissions system by initiating a structured admission process that enables candidates to select degree programs according to their merit, aptitude and personal preferences. The initiative marks a significant reform in the universityโs admission framework.
Under the new mechanism, admissions are being granted strictly on merit and on the spot through a choice-based options system, taking into account final merit scores, entry test results and open introductory interviews. The initiative has received widespread appreciation from students, parents and academic circles for its transparency, efficiency and fairness.
On the first day of the choice-based admission process, hundreds of students from Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze and Sanghar districts participated for bachelorโs degree programmes offered by the universityโs five faculties, the Information Technology Centre and the Institute of Food Sciences and Technology. Candidates were facilitated through a systematic procedure to select degree programs aligned with their academic merit, aptitude and personal interests, followed by immediate merit-based admissions after interviews.
To ensure smooth facilitation and transparency, the university arranged separate waiting areas for students and parents, guidance desks, on-screen display of general merit lists, on-the-spot admission counters, fee challan issuance desks and document submission points. Deans of various faculties and members of the admission committees actively guided candidates throughout the process in accordance with their merit position and program preferences.
Vice Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal visited the ongoing admission activities to review the arrangements and personally interacted with students and their parents to obtain feedback on the procedures. Parents and candidates expressed complete satisfaction with the open and transparent admission system.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Siyal said that displaying academic credentials, entry test results and district-wise available seats on screens and granting admissions accordingly reflects an exceptionally transparent, merit-driven and modern approach, adopted by only a few universities in the country. He added that the first phase of the process has been highly successful, the final merit lists will be issued without delay and classes will commence within the current month, unlike previous years when the admission process took considerably longer.
The Vice Chancellor further stated that SAUโs degree programs enjoy national and international recognition for their academic strength, research orientation and strong emphasis on practical training. He emphasized that the universityโs vision is to align studentsโ education with their interests and capabilities, enabling them to effectively meet future professional and societal challenges.
Dean Faculty of Crop Production Dr Inayatullah Rajper, Registrar Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi and other senior university officials were also present on the occasion.
The admission process will continue until January 9. According to the schedule, candidates from Umerkot, Tharparkar and Mirpurkhas will be facilitated on January 6; Hyderabad, Thatta and Sujawal on January 7; Jamshoro, Matiari and Tando Allahyar on January 8; while applicants from Karachi, Tando Muhammad Khan and Badin will be entertained on January 9. Earlier, admissions under the same transparent system were successfully completed at SAUโs Umerkot Campus and the Khairpur College of Agriculture and Management Sciences.
