Alumni Get-together at Atta Shad Degree College, Turbat

Divisional Monitoring Officer, Makran Professor Barkat Ismail Baloch and Principal Atta Shad College Prof. Zaheer Ahmed along Atta Shad College Faculty hosted the Alumni Get-together at Prof: Ghulam Rasool Khalid Auditorium.* Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buladai -Minister for Planning and Development, Government of Balochistan- honour the Alumni Get-together Program as Chief Guest.
Mr. Allah Bakhsh Hasrat moderated the event. It was started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Prof: M***i Abdul kabeer.
Prof Zaheer Ahmed gave the opening speech. He welcomed the Guest of Honour Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buladai and Alumni. Alumni included noted personalities of Kech. Government Atta Shad College has graduated 56 batches since its inception (1969). He apprised the audience regarding the history of college which was established in 1969 and upgraded in 1974. From current academic year update to an overall profile of college was presented to the audience. The purpose of the event is to bring the alumni under one roof. Through such reconnection we try to bridge a gulf between the currently enrolled students and graduates from various batches.
Assistant Divisional Monitoring Officer, Sharif Shambay explained the objectives of Alumni Get-together which aims at Connectivity, Creation of opportunities such as provision of scholarships, internships and guidelines to College students. He announced the establishment of Atta Shad College Alumni Association. The association will have a cabinet for which annual election will be conducted while membership is open to all alumni. He presented a Resolution of 8 articles for the association.
Prof Barkat Ismail Baloch, Divisonal Monitoring officer (colleges) Makran, drew an overall picture of colleges of Makran. He noted that it is important to bring into the attention of alumni who are also parents of the students the issues and obstacles. Together with commitment, we can provide them with a roadmap in their educational journey. This meet-up of alumni who belong to various generations provides an opportunity to connect with each other and enrich the young mind from the experience of alumni. He pointed out that college education is basically is a missing link in the region. Because students attendance is satisfactory in both school and university sides while at college section attendance is poor. This is a serious matter of concerns. Both college administrations and alumni need to play their due role bridge the gulf. He further stated that with playing our due role and carrying our responsibilities, we will not be able to achieve desired result in the field of education.
Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buladai, Minister for planning and development said that’ it is an honour and pride to be present in this historic event. He said that Atta Shad College is history making institution in the field of education. He appreciated the establishment of Atta Shad Alumni Association for the purpose of connectivity and collectively playing role for the students of the region. He said that it’s encouraging to see the educationists playing the due role in illuminating the minds of youngsters even though resources are lacking in many respects. Investment on education sector remains ‘my top priority, it our shared goal to emphasize on education sector. He ensure the college administration that he would do his part to provide facilities, fund so that the institution faces no obstacle and continue the journey of provision of education effectively.
Alumni and their stories
Retired Justice Shakeel Ahmed Baloch, narrated his experience of his student life of college. He is was the student of Second Batch of College. At that time Prof Ghulam Rasool Khalid was the principal of the college. He said that Prof Ghulam Rasool Khalid was a fatherly figure for the students of college. He was a man of principle. He was concerned regarding the educational progress of every single student of the college.
Vice Chancellor, University of Turbat Prof: Dr. Gul Hassan Baloch stated in his speech that at his time as student, college professors gave even extra time to students for studies. College had four PhDs. With regard to teaching, it is no ordinary field. It demands both knowledge and principles to become respectable in the eyes of both students and society. He appreciated the college administration for connecting alumni to the institute.
Dr. Amir Bakhsh Baloch apprised the audience regarding the educational progress of Kech. He also talked about his student life at this prestigious college. He emphasized on the role of parents and inclusive education. In a light mode, he said that it was blessing to be alive and remain part of such a wonderful gathering. Audience with great enthusiasm listened to his old times stories.
Muhammad Jan Raza - retired Headmaster and educationist- talked about his educational journey of Atta Shad College. He studied at college from 1979 to 1982. He said that Prof Ghulam Rasool Khalid was one of the longest serving principals of the college. He left a huge impact upon the minds of students. This institute has shaped the lives of many. He thanked the college administration for such a get together.
