Department of Environmental Sciences COMSATS University Vehari Campus in collaboration with EPA, Vehari celebrated World Earth Day on 22 April at Campus with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The celebration began with an awareness seminar, where different Speakers (Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Dr. Faiz Rabbani, Muhammad Idrees and Prof. Dr. M. Shahid) highlighted the history and significance of Earth Day and discussed pressing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, and deforestation. They emphasized the role of youth in preserving natural resources and encouraged participants to adopt sustainable lifestyles.
Following the seminar, a poster display was arranged by students creatively illustrating environmental challenges and offered innovative solutions to address them.
An awareness walk was then conducted within the campus. Students, faculty, and staff actively participated, carrying banners and chanting slogans to promote environmental protection and community responsibility.
The highlight of the event was the tree plantation drive, during which 500 saplings, donated by SIMTA food, were planted across the campus. This initiative demonstrated a practical commitment to improving the environment and contributing to a greener future. A large number of students and ES faculty participated in the celebrations.
