University of Wah The University is offering undergraduate, Graduate and Postgraduate Programs. The University of Wah was established in 2005.

Four years later, in July 2009, the Punjab Provincial Assembly passed the University of Wah Act, 2009. The University is offering 4-Year Bachelors and 2-Year Masters Programs in Basic, Social, Computer, Management and Engineering Sciences. The University has two constituent colleges, Mashal and Wah Engineering College. The Wah Engineering College is offering BSc Engineering Programs in the fields

of Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Mechatronics, side by side, the college has also been offering MS and PhD Degree Programs in the field of Electrical and Mechanical whereas, Mashal Degree College is offering BS (4-Year) Programs in selective areas (only for girls). The University Campus is located in the beautiful and pollution free environment of the Wah Cantonment. The city of Wah is situated in the North-West of Islamabad โ€œThe Capital of Pakistanโ€. Wah has a historical background and was always a favorite place of Mughal Rulers. They built several gardens, such as, the most famous Wah Garden. Taxila city is adjacent to city of Wah which is rich in ancient, mainly Buddhist archeological sites and Sikh sacred places. The city of Wah has around 98% literacy rate and is known as โ€œModel Cityโ€ for education. Since its establishment, the University registered progress unmatched by any other University in the country at the similar early phase, and it is now in the process of producing a community of scholars committed to making in roads into yet unchartered areas of knowledge both in the emerging and traditional disciplines for which numerous facilities of advanced levels are being provided at the campus. It is unprecedented that University has offered and maintained Under-graduate and Post-graduate Programs in Basic, Social, Computer, Management and Engineering Sciences, since its establishment. To facilitate the successful conduct of these Programs, considerable spadework has been done, including the establishment of laboratories for practical classes. The University, in spite of numerous constraints and limitations, has been able to engage highly qualified and experienced faculty. The University has adopted 4-Year (Honors) Degree Courses approved by the Higher Education Commission. The University Campus is located on the 'Quaid Avenue', Wah Cantt.

The 35th meeting of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF)-University of Wah (UW) Research Collaboration Committee was held on 23 June 2025 at the University of Wah. The meeting brought together representatives from POF and the University of Wah to review ongoing collaborative activities and discuss matters related to research, development, innovation, and industryโ€“academia engagement.

A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of project completion letters and letters of appreciation by Brig. Muhammad Irfan Arif, Director R&D, POF, to the Principal Investigators of completed research projects. The recognized projects covered significant areas, including industrial automation and control systems, the development of advanced functional materials for industrial applications, and environmental remediation technologies.

During the meeting, Brig. Muhammad Irfan Arif also presented a research grant cheque worth Rs. 0.8 million to support an environment-related research project aimed at addressing environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions.

The committee further explored opportunities for research funding and agreed that UW faculty members and POF officers would jointly pursue competitive research grants to advance collaborative R&D initiatives. Discussions also focused on expanding student internships and industrial training opportunities, enhancing industry exposure for UW students, and promoting the joint supervision and development of industry-based Final Year Design Projects (FYDPs) to address real-world engineering and technological challenges.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthening the long-standing partnership between POF and the University of Wah through joint research projects, capacity building, and innovation-driven initiatives that contribute to academic excellence and national industrial development.

Department of Psychology, University of Wah, organized a capacity-building workshop titled โ€œThe Contemporary Clinicianโ€™s Lens: DSM-5-TR Diagnosis & Evidence-Based Case Formulationโ€ on 22 June 2026.

Ms. Habiba Shaheen, lecturer, served as the resource person, facilitating the workshop, while Ms. Haleema Adnan, lecturer, coordinated it as the focal person. The sessions focused on contemporary diagnostic practices, the application of DSM-5-TR, and evidence-based case formulation through interactive discussions and case-based learning activities.

The workshop was attended by mental health professionals, practitioners, faculty members, and students, including Clinical Psychologists and practitioners from Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi; Fatima Hospital, Wah Cantt; Hearing Well and Speech Therapy Clinic, Lalazar, Wah Cantt; and Positive Solution, Wah Cantt.

The activity provided a valuable platform for professional learning, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of evidence-based clinical practice. Participants appreciated the workshop's practical relevance and its contribution to enhancing diagnostic and case formulation competencies in contemporary mental health settings.

Department of Psychology, University of Wah, organized a session on โ€œStress Managementโ€ at the UW Boys Hostel on 23 June 2026. The session was conducted by Dr. Noman Aftab, Chairperson, Department of Psychology, accompanied by Dr. Muhammad Amjid, Assistant Professor, and Mr. Maaz Ahmed, Lecturer.

During the session, Mr. Maaz Ahmed discussed the role of stressors in daily life and their impact on individualsโ€™ well-being. Dr. Muhammad Amjid highlighted the concepts of positive and negative stress and their implications for mental health. He also addressed issues related to suicidal thoughts and behaviors, emphasizing the importance of timely support and intervention.

In his talk, Dr. Noman Aftab focused on the significance of resilience in coping with stress and overcoming lifeโ€™s challenges. He encouraged students to adopt healthy coping strategies and seek support whenever needed.

At the end of the session, students were informed about the services offered by the Psychological Counseling Center. Dr. Noman Aftab explained the Centreโ€™s role in providing psychological counseling and mental health support to students at University of Wah.

Wah Business School, University of Wah, organized a Foreign Faculty Lecture on 22 June 2026, jointly coordinated by Mr. Qamar Ishtiaq and Dr. Saif Ullah Khan. Dr. Waranaya La-Ongsri and Dr. Waeewan La-Ongsri, Senior Lecturers from the College of International Business, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, Thailand, delivered the session.

The lecture, titled โ€œFamily Firms and the Emerging Markets of South East Asia,โ€ focused on the growing influence of family firms in the emerging stock markets of South East Asia and the contingent agency problems associated with them.

Ms. Aaisha Shoukat and Ms. Rizwana Samreen, both lecturers, served as the resource persons for the session. They highlighted the causes and symptoms of stress and emphasized healthy coping mechanisms, time management techniques, relaxation exercises, and the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle for overall well-being.

Students actively participated in discussions and shared their experiences, making the session interactive and informative. The activity enabled participants to develop a better understanding of stress management practices and encouraged the adoption of positive strategies for maintaining mental health. The session concluded, contributing positively to studentsโ€™ personal growth, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.
