Gabriela Cheaptanaru analyses the adaptation of "King Lear" by the Ukrainian director Vyacheslav Yehorov and the film documenting this production by Yehorov and Dmytro Hreshko to explore the therapeutic potential of "Lear": "'transferring' war trauma onto the stage, while engaging creatively with the representations of war and chaos provided by Shakespeare, brings about a controlled encounter with one’s own traumatic experience through a collective re-interpretation of the war narrative, and reasserts the value of Shakespearean tragedy as a fulcrum in the face of loss."

Oksana Fedorkiv and David Livingstone discuss the two recent Shakespeare productions by the Ivan Franko National Drama Theatre in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, "Hamlet", directed by Rostyslav Derzhypilskyi, and "Twelfth Night" directed by Oleksii Hnatkovskyi. The first production premiered before the onset of full-scale war, and the other one in its aftermath, but both have demonstrated the healing powers of the arts as they both became a "shelter" from the war.

Agnieszka Rasmus writes about Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosolowski's film "The Hamlet Syndrome" which follows five young Ukrainians: Slavik, Roman, Katya, Rodion, and Oxana as they enter the process of "Hamlet" rehearsals with the theatre director Roza Sarkisian.
Rasmus writes: "With its initial intention of telling the story of the forgotten conflict, the film has become a testament to the strength of the Ukrainian spirit. The reason the documentary resonates so deeply with international audiences is that it speaks to the universally shared dreams of self-determination and dignity. 'The Hamlet Syndrome' offers viewers a glimpse into the complexity of the Ukrainian condition. Drawn towards the West and its ideas of democracy and human rights while at the same time enmeshed by its post-Soviet identity and totalitarian past, the young Maidan generation has borne the brunt of Putin’s imperial project."
