🔬 56 Lodz University of Technology researchers among the world’s most influential scientists!

The latest Stanford University and Elsevier Top 2% ranking recognises TUL researchers for their scientific impact — both in 2025 and across their entire careers.

🏆 32 researchers made the list for their 2025 achievements, while 43 were recognised for their career-long impact. Some appear in both categories.

📊 Among Poland’s 20 largest technical universities and universities, TUL ranks third for career-long achievements and fourth for the previous year.

🎓 What will joint European degrees look like — and what needs to happen to make them work?

Lodz University of Technology has conducted a study covering all 12 ECIU member universities, exploring joint and double degree programmes and more flexible forms of learning across the Alliance.

🔍 Based on interviews with 54 university representatives and a survey of programme coordinators, the research identifies different approaches, key challenges and opportunities for developing joint education in the context of the future Joint European Degree and the Joint European Degree Label.

🎓 How can universities better prepare students for their first steps in the job market? OUT-DOOR puts learning into practice!

Coordinated by Lodz University of Technology, this Erasmus+ project combines an online course with hands-on outdoor workshops to help students develop skills they’ll need in their future careers.

🌍 The pilot phase brought together:
💻 More than 200 participants in the “From University to Work” online course
🤝 Students from five countries taking part in local pilot programmes
🌿 25 students from five European universities tackling real-life community challenges during an international summer school in the Azores

In September, project partners met at TUL to review the results and discuss how to develop this approach further. The project concludes in November 2026.

🧪 From the mysteries of the Universe to the secrets of molecules — our Nobel Prize weekend continues!

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to Henri B. Kagan and Kenso Soai for their discoveries in asymmetric organic synthesis, helping explain how one mirror-image form of a molecule can dominate a chemical reaction.

🧬 Why does this matter? Molecular shape can influence biological activity and the effects of medicines — and may hold clues to one of science’s big questions: why life favours particular molecular forms.

🔬 Professor Łukasz Albrecht of Lodz University of Technology explains why the award has special significance for Łódź’s chemistry community, where research into asymmetric synthesis has a long tradition.

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to Francis Halzen for his decisive contribution to creating the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and discovering high-energy neutrinos from astrophysical sources.

❄️ Built deep in the Antarctic ice near the South Pole, IceCube uses an enormous volume of ice to detect signals produced when neutrinos interact with matter — opening new possibilities for exploring the Universe.

🔬 What makes this discovery so important? Professor Mariusz Wójcik of the Faculty of Chemistry at Lodz University of Technology explains the science behind the award and its links to another major mystery: dark matter.

TUL researchers are also contributing to the international DarkSide project, which searches for dark-matter particles using a detector based on liquid argon.

On 16 October, a street named after Professor Jan Krysiński was officially unveiled in Łódź.

An eminent scholar, four-time Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Honorary Citizen of Łódź and visionary academic leader, Professor Krysiński played a significant role in shaping the modern identity of our University. The street bearing his name is located in the immediate vicinity of the TUL campus.

Professor Krysiński believed in a university that was ambitious, innovative and open to the world. His bold ideas and determination contributed to numerous academic, educational, cultural and infrastructural initiatives that continue to enrich our University community.

The street named after Professor Jan Krysiński is a lasting tribute to his scientific, academic and public achievements. It is also a reminder that truly great visions transcend time and continue to shape the future.

On 25 September, Lodz University of Technology was recognised for its good practices in preventing mobbing, discrimination and other undesirable conduct during the closing conference of the nationwide “Safe University” project, held at the University of Warsaw.

🏅 Of the 25 higher-education institutions participating in the project, six were distinguished for their good practices. TUL was the only university from Łódź to receive this distinction.

The conference brought together representatives of academia and public institutions to discuss effective prevention measures, support systems and ways to promote equal treatment across higher education.
