What exactly are the myelin sheets? How badly are they affected in multiple sclerosis (MS)? Could their repair process be in any capacity regulated ?

We are pleased to introduce you to Dr. Aleksandra Rutkowska, a brilliant neuroscientist, who is conducting an innovative project focused on the regulation of myelin repair in the central nervous system (CNS).

Currently, there is no therapy focusing on the repair of the CNS in MS. However, the work of Dr. Rutkowska and her translational collaboration with Prof. Bartosz Karaszewski may open new possibilities in this field. Together they are testing various combinations of myelin repair mechanisms.

Passion, determination, and hard work – that's what drives science forward. Perhaps it is here, at the Medical University of Gdańsk, that your scientific journey will begin?

Can one successfully navigate a tight schedule, juggling demanding midwifery studies and engaging in innovative multi-project research? The answer lies in the story of Wanda Kwiatkowska, a young and ambitious student and researcher. Her passion for midwifery led her to undertake a unique project –evaluating female sexual function after the miracle of childbirth.

The project's initial findings are astounding. It appears that the method of child-feeding holds profound influence over a woman's sexual well-being. Many women who decide to cease breastfeeding do so for reasons closely linked to their sexual lives. This captivating topic demands the attention of medical professionals, as a thorough analysis could bring undeniable health benefits to those who opt for natural feeding.

What sets this study apart is the scarcity of publications exploring women's sexual functioning after childbirth. Moreover, it intertwines two crucial aspects of motherhood - breastfeeding and postnatal body esteem.

Immerse yourself in the world of passion, mentorship, and endless possibilities for scientific discovery, innovation, and personal growth.

It is possible to, in any capacity, assess the higher risk of intracranial aneurysm before it causes a life-threatening condition?

Join Dr. Justyna Fercho, an ambitious researcher, clinician, and doctoral student, in her innovative research to develop a unique method for predicting aneurysm. With the support of the Gdańsk University of Technology, Dr. Fercho leverages machine learning and neural networks to create a game-changing approach.

Currently, 80% of intracranial aneurysms are only detected after they rupture, causing dangerous intracranial haemorrhage. Dr. Fercho's research could change that, potentially preventing life-threatening events.

Be part of world-changing research, like Dr. Fercho. Explore our educational programmes for future students and doctoral researchers. Apply to the Medical University of Gdańsk today and embark on your scientific journey.
