💢 MATBUD’2026 💢 is just around the corner.
On 23 April at 10:00, we will officially open the 11th Scientific-Technical Conference on Material Problems in Civil Engineering - MATBUD, organised by the Chair of Building Materials Engineering at the Wydział Inżynierii Lądowej Politechniki KrakowskiejFaculty of Civil Engineering, Politechnika Krakowska im. Tadeusza Kościuszki
This year’s conference is held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of Cracow University of Technology, Professor Andrzej Szarata, as well as the Section of Building Materials Engineering of the Civil Engineering Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Construction Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences - Kraków Branch.
For the first time, MATBUD is organised in cooperation with our international partner, Nantes Université, Génie Civil Construction Durable de l'IUT de Saint-Nazaire, marking an important step toward strengthening European scientific collaboration.
MATBUD’2026 has attracted 66 submitted abstracts, reviewed by national and international experts of the Scientific Committee. The accepted contributions form ten thematic sessions covering key challenges in building materials engineering, including:
• alternative and advanced cementitious binders
• circular economy and waste-derived materials
• timber and bio-based materials
• durability and performance of construction materials
• fibres, admixtures and innovative composites
• self-healing and repair materials
• experimental investigations and optimisation of building products
• MEZeroE project research
While cementitious materials and durability remain strong pillars of the programme, this edition clearly highlights the growing transition toward sustainable and environmentally responsible material solutions, including geopolymers, alkali-activated binders and biomaterials.
We are honoured to welcome Professor Martin Cyr, University of Toulouse, as our Keynote Speaker, whose work significantly advances research on sustainable cementitious materials.
This edition also pays tribute to Professor L**h Czarnecki, Honorary Chairperson. It recognises the outstanding contribution of Professor Jacek Śliwiński, originator of the MATBUD conference series, whose commitment has shaped these meetings since 1996.
We look forward to welcoming you soon to Krakow for inspiring discussions, new collaborations and meaningful scientific exchange.
