Wydział Polonistyki Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego został utworzony na podstawie uchwały Senatu UJ z 22 grudnia 2004 roku i zarządzenia Rektora Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego z 27 grudnia 2004 roku. Podstawą w/w uchwały i zarządzenia było wyłączenie Instytutu Polonistyki z wewnętrznej struktury organizacyjnej Wydziału Filologicznego UJ i przekształcenie go w Wydział Polonistyki Uniwersytetu Jagiellońs
kiego. W skład Wydziału Polonistyki UJ wchodzi 18 katedr, Instytut Glottodydaktyki Polonistycznej, Centrum Studiów Humanistycznych, Centrum Badawcze Bibliografii Polskiej Estreicherów, Centrum Badań Edukacyjnych i Kształcenia Ustawicznego, Centrum Badań Przekładoznawczych, a także ośrodki badawcze (Ośrodek Dokumentacji i Badania Twórczości Josepha Conrada, Ośrodek Badań Literatury Dziecięcej i Młodzieżowej, Ośrodek Badań nad Kulturami Pamięci, Ośrodek Badań Groznawczych, Ośrodek Badań nad Awangardą, Ośrodek Badań nad Twórczością Czesława Miłosza) i pracownie. Wydział Polonistyki prowadzi 20 kierunków studiów. Są to kierunki na studiach I stopnia: wiedza o teatrze; I i II stopnia: edytorstwo, filologia polska nauczycielska, polonistyka-komparatystyka, polonistyka antropologiczno-kulturowa, język polski w komunikacji społecznej, kulturoznawstwo – teksty kultury; II stopnia: logopedia, krytyka literacka, nauczanie języka polskiego jako obcego i drugiego, performatyka, przekładoznawstwo literacko-kulturowe, teatrologia, Comparative Heritage Studies. The Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University was established based on the resolution of JU Senate of 22nd December 2004 and the ordinance of JU Rector of 27th December 2004, which turned the Institute of Polish Studies, heretofore part of the JU Faculty of Philology, into an independent faculty. The new organisational unit commenced its activity 1st September 2005. The JU Faculty of Polish Studies comprises 18 departments, as well as a number of other units, including: Centre for Polish Language and Culture in the World, Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, Research Centre for the Polish Bibliography of the Estreicher Family, Centre for Educational Research and Lifelong Learning, Centre for Translation Studies, Joseph Conrad Research Centre, Centre for Research on Children’s and Young Adult Literature, Research Center for Memory Cultures, Centre for Game Studies, Centre for Avant-Garde Studies, Czesław Miłosz Centre. The Faculty of Polish Studies offers twenty study programs. At the BA and MA levels, these are: Theatre Studies, Editing, Polish for Teachers, Comparative Studies, Literary and Cultural Anthropology, Polish Language in Social Communication, Cultural Studies, and at the MA level: Speech and Language Therapy, Literary Criticism, Teaching Polish as a Foreign and Second Language, Performance Studies, Literary and Cultural Translation studies, Comparative Heritage Studies.
