ISIC 2018

The ISIC 2018 conference is organized by the Institute of Information and Library Science of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland

The ISIC conferences have a reputation for being an arena for discussing challenging work concerning people’s contextualised interactions with information of various kinds. Already the first conference 1996 in Tampere, Finland, constructed a platform for development within the field and community for researchers. The history of the ISIC conferences includes high quality papers, theoretical develop

ments as well as a wide range of interesting empirical phenomena in all possible contexts. ISIC 2018 intends to reflect and engage with the interdisciplinary character of information research and seeks to attract papers from all of these areas. ISIC is a conference for research papers exploring information as a rich site of study, going beyond the sole focus on technological aspects and exploring a wide variety of contexts. This legacy is borne out in the publication of the conference proceedings since the first conference in the series over 20 years ago.

At ISIC 2018 Olof Sundin presented the paper “Facts, fake and information literacy: a conceptual discussion of critical evaluation of information”. The paper has since then been developed and forms now a chapter (5) in the newly published book “Invisible Search and Online Search Engines: The Ubiquity of Search in Everyday Life” (with Jutta Haider).

ISIC 2018 :)

Only a week ago we participated in the ISIC conference in Krakow - so much has happened since then! We listened many thought-provoking presentations, we had a lot of interesting debates and we made new friends! :) We hope that you will always be pleased to remember ISIC 2018. We definitely have a lot of great memories :)
