| Meet Dr Karolina Olszowska 🎓

Interested in Türkiye’s political landscape and its relations with Central and Eastern Europe? Meet Dr Karolina Olszowska, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations at Jagiellonian University.

Her research focuses on the history and contemporary politics of Türkiye, with particular emphasis on its foreign policy and relations with Central and Eastern European countries.

At , Dr Olszowska teaches courses that offer students an opportunity to explore the historical and political dynamics of one of the most significant regions in international affairs:

| Prof. Artur Gruszczak 🎓

Who helps us understand the complexities of international security, armed conflict and global governance? Meet Prof. Artur Gruszczak, Head of the Department of National Security at Jagiellonian University and Chair of the Council of the Discipline of Security Sciences.

His research explores strategic studies, military transformations, hybrid threats, counterterrorism, organised crime, migration management and intelligence cooperation within the European Union and the transatlantic community. He is also interested in how open-source information can help anticipate emerging threats and security risks.

At IRAS, Prof. Gruszczak teaches two courses that invite students to look beyond national borders and explore the challenges shaping our interconnected world:

Welcome to the family! 🎓🙂 We have just celebrated the inauguration of the new academic year at the and Programmes and, most importantly, had the opportunity to welcome our new students in person.

It was a wonderful occasion to meet Dr Dominika Dziwisz, Head of the and Programmes, Dr Michał Rzepecki, Deputy Head, and our invaluable administrative team - the people who will be there to support you throughout your time with us.

Our new students were also warmly welcomed by representatives of The Association of International and Area Studies, who shared a little about student life and encouraged everyone to get involved, meet new people and make the most of everything university life has to offer.

🍽️ Some tasty news to start the morning!

To better respond to students’ needs, Uniwersytet Jagielloński is launching a new meal subsidy programme in the 2026/2027 academic year for full-time students and doctoral students.

As part of the programme, participants will be able to enjoy one subsidised meal per weekday at selected food outlets cooperating with the University.

Thanks to the subsidy:
🥘 a full lunch set will cost PLN 18
🍛 a main course with a drink will cost PLN 14

So, if you are looking for a convenient and more affordable lunch between classes, this may be worth checking out! 😉

| We made it! The & team has crossed the finish line of today’s charity relay! 🏆

Our Faculty took part in the “Run in Good Cause” initiative, and we are delighted that we could be part of something that brought our community together for a good cause.

Representing IRAS & GLAD on the course were Dr Dominika Dziwisz (Head of Programmes), Dr Agata Mazurkiewicz, Dr Wojciech Michnik and Dr Tomasz Soroka - with our amazing students joining in and showing just how much energy our community has.

A big thank you to everyone who ran, cheered and supported the initiative. We ran together, we made it to the finish line together - and demonstrated that our university community extends well beyond the classroom.
