The 7th Old English Student Conference is officially over.
Over the last 3 days we heard 18 talks about everything Anglo-Saxon; we took part in 3 workshops, listened to 3 keynote speakers, and met for 2 social events after the conference.
First and foremost we would like to thank our volunteers. Around 40 members of KNA UJ worked behind the scenes of OESC, not only during the conference, but weeks, even months prior, making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible, and solving real, difficult problems as they appeared. We wouldn't have been able to do it without you - thank you so very much.
Thank you to all our speakers, guests, and participants: you make the conference what it is. Thank you for your contributions, questions, (long (extending over the coffee break (and beyond))) discussions and good company.
Thank you for your kind words, support, and understanding in moments, where things were not going the way they were supposed to.
We are extremely happy to have seen new friendships, connections and plans being made at OESC. We witnessed a new, exciting initiative emerge during 7OESC; we hope all of that will contribute to the growth and further improvement of Anglo-Saxon studies in Poland.
Last but not least, thank you for debating over the etymology of Polish 'smok', fighting over kennings, bonding over Proto-Indo-European, inventing the new Polish word for 'garlic', and the Old English for 'rozkminiać' and 'vegetarian', and many, many more.
We hope you enjoyed the 7thOESC. See you in Kraków next year! 🦖
Mid miclum lufe,
Jagoda, Ania, Krysia and the 7OESC Team
PS. We kept tally of things being said and done regularly at OESC. Enjoy.
