🎄 As the year comes to a close, we would like to pause for a moment and thank you for being part of the Institute of European Studies community.

🌍 This year has been shaped by curiosity, dialogue, cooperation, and shared effort - in lecture halls, during discussions, projects, travels, and everyday work that often happens quietly but matters deeply. It is thanks to our students, staff, partners, and friends that the Institute remains a place of open thought, international perspective, and genuine engagement.

🎀 We wish you a Christmas filled with calm moments, good conversations, and well-earned rest, and a New Year that brings inspiration, meaningful challenges, and new opportunities - academic and beyond.

✨May 2026 be a year of ideas that connect, plans that move forward, and collaborations that continue to grow.

Warm wishes,
Institute of European Studies

Dear All,

📚 We warmly invite you to the January meeting of our book club, “I’ve Heard EU’ve Been Reading”. A new year is the perfect moment for reflection, and what better way to begin it than with a thoughtful book and good conversation?

📖 This time, we will be discussing “The Years” by Annie Ernaux.

Blending personal memory with collective history, “The Years” offers a unique literary portrait of post-war France and a meditation on time, identity, and how individual lives are shaped by social change. It’s a book that invites us to look back - and think differently about the present.

❄️ The winter break is the ideal time to slow down, curl up with a good book, and let reading do its quiet work. We hope this reflective season gives you space to read, think, and recharge before we meet again in January.

💬 As always, you’re very welcome to join us even if this is your first meeting. New voices and fresh perspectives are always appreciated.

🎁 Until then, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, book-filled holiday season from all of us at the book club.

We look forward to seeing you in January and starting the year with a great discussion!

🎄On Friday, together with students from our English- and Polish-language programmes, we officially kicked off the Christmas party season!

🤩From a timed Kraków nativity-scene challenge (complete with passionate debates over which one deserved the top spot), to an ugliest Christmas sweater contest and – naturally – carol karaoke, there was no shortage of festive fun.

🥳Thank you to everyone who joined in and made it such a wonderful time. Once again, we were truly impressed by our students’ creativity – well done!

Dear All,

📚 We'd like to invite you to the next meeting of our book club, "I’ve Heard EU’ve Been Reading", which will take place on 12 December (Friday) at 3:00 p.m. in Room 010.

📖 This month we’re discussing Solaris by Stanisław Lem — a landmark novel that follows psychologist Kris Kelvin as he arrives on a space station orbiting the mysterious, oceanic planet Solaris. The planet’s living ocean begins to create physical forms drawn from the crew’s memories, forcing them to confront the parts of themselves they cannot escape. The book raises powerful questions about communication, guilt, and the limits of human understanding.

💬 Even if you weren't able to join previous meetings, you are very welcome to attend this one.

We look forward to seeing you there and sharing the discussion!

🎓 We are delighted to share that this year, for the first time, we had the pleasure of organising a joint graduation ceremony for students of both our Polish- and English-language programmes at the Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The celebration took place at the end of November at the Faculty of International and Political Studies and brought together our wonderful community of students, families, and staff. 🌟

📸We are happy to share some photos from this memorable day.

🎉 Once again, our warmest congratulations to all our graduates! We wish you every success in your future paths and hope that the experiences gained at our Institute will stay with you for many years to come. 💙📚
