Główną inspiracją do badań prowadzonych w grupie „Chemia powierzchni i materiałów” jest zrozumienie zjawisk i procesów zachodzących na granicy faz ciało stałe/gaz i zastosowanie tej wiedzy do preparatyki powierzchni o określonych właściwościach. W grupie prowadzone są badania zarówno od strony preparatyki ciał stałych i modyfikacji ich powierzchni oraz badania reaktywności (adsorpcja/desorpcja rea

gentów, test katalityczny). Cele badawcze koncentrują się na zagadnieniach zarówno czysto fundamentalnych, takich jak: modyfikacja właściwości elektronowych powierzchni poprzez dotowanie alkaliami, synteza nowych materiałów do zastosowań katalitycznych, jak i aplikacyjnych związanych z badaniami powierzchni katalizatorów przemysłowych, opracowywaniem patentów nowych układów katalitycznych oraz inżynierią powierzchni implantów. The main goal of the research carried out in „Materials and Surface Chemistry Group” is to gain an understanding of the processes taking place at the solid/gas interfaces and its application for the design of the surfaces with desired properties. The group conducts research on the preparation of new solid materials, modifications of their surfaces, and the study of their reactivity (adsorption/desorption of reactants, catalytic screening). The motivation of the research is both fundamental (interaction of small molecules with model surfaces, modification of surface electronic properties by alkali doping) and applied (characterization of real catalyst surfaces, patents of the new catalytic materials, and engineering of metal implant surfaces).
